Fallout 2, avoid tactics if possible.

Fallout 2 ..Fallout... Fallout 3..Tactics Fallout Tactics should be taken with a grain of salt...it was fun to play and had Falloutish overtones...but it wasn't Fallout. Of course I also don't consider Fallout 3 to be that Falloutish either. The setting and characters were there...but the heart wasn't. Here's hoping New Vegas can bring it back to it's roots...

Fallout 2, although you really can't go wrong with 1 ether. Fallout Tactics is worth a play through, but its more of a TBS in the fallout universe, kinda reminded me of Jagged alliance (old school guys would remember this).

The story and setting were a lot better in Fallout 1, but the gameplay and balance was better in Fallout 2.

Same. I personally like Fallout 1 a lot better, but I can't deny that Fallout 2 was the better game content and balance wise. I mean, by the end of Fallout if you get the best armour and weapons you literally take 0 damage and can one hit kill super mutants. Definitely not a balanced game! XD

Either one of the first two Fallout games had their moments, their both outstanding in different ways. The NPC followers in 2 were better, the dialogue in 1 was funnier, the story and the many ways to play the game was more varied in 1 but deeper in 2. Fallout 3 was boring. :(

I'd say the first fallout though the second one did have more content and was much longer. It's a hard choice but fallout 1 for story and 2 for amount of things to do.

Fallout1 and 2 are the best of the series hands down, way better then Fallout3 imo.

Cant go wrong with either Fallout1 or 2!

It's just a shame that so many people say good things about FO1 and FO2 and I simply couldn't get into them. I'd love to experience its gameplay, but it's dated mechanics and graphics just keep me away from playing them. Maybe if someone made an 3d isometric HD version with better interface, then people like me that missed it on release would be able to enjoy them. Right now I'll keep playing Fallout 3, but aware that I'm missing a richer albeit more dated experience in gaming.

There are resolution mods. You can probably find them over at No Mutants Allowed.

Fallout 1 and then Fallout 2 (although I probably like them equally for different reasons). Fallout 3 is terrible. It's a Fallout game in name only and shouldn't be included in the same breath as the first 2 games. It's dull, dull, dull...
