Hey guys, I was wondering if you could recommend some good games for me. im looking for a game with a great story, gameplay, and atmosphere. It doesn't have to be an FPS but i definitely prefer it over other genres. Im a huge fan of bioshock. I own crysis, deus ex, and half life 2 for pc and killzone 2, rsv2, and bioshock for ps3. So the game can be either ps3 or PC. I would also prefer it if the PC games u recommend are available on steam. I do also like rpg's, some third person shooters, and generally just action games.

If you like shooters with story and atmosphere, you definitely have to get F.E.A.R. You'll love that one. The gunplay is terrific, it has an eerie and unsettling atmosphere to it and the writing is just plain awesome.

Give that one a try. :)

You pretty much have story FPSs covered. With the suggestions you have above, I don't know what else to recommend. I started Metro 2033 today, and it's pretty cool, but I can't say much.

I'm going to second FEAR, Metro 2033 - I played more of Metro 2033 than above poster, and it just gets better after the start :) I haven't finished it either, but what I've played is really good. FEAR is.. amazing. I don't even finish a lot of games, but that one I had no trouble finishing up. Kept me interested the whole way through.

I'd also recommend Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Really cool atmosphere and story, it's not necessarily a shooter, but you CAN use guns and play that way if you like, in addition to other gameplay elements.

Also had a really good time with Kane and Lynch 2. Game got a lot of flak and it's really short, but I found the story and setting to be quite interesting and gripping. Not sure why. But yeah. It was good.

Metro 2033 is my second favorite game of the year, behind Mass Effect 2. I highly recommend it.

Well, Mass Effect 2 isn't a FPS since it's third person..but it's a shooter, especially if you play as a soldier, and it has a great story and is usually classified as a RPG, even though it's a mix really. The PC version is the best too.

Metro 2033 I thought had a great story, great atmosphere, and nice gameplay. The gunplay isn't that spectacular, but I still enjoyed playing through it more than BioShock, for example.

Also, a game with a great story that is often over looked is Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood. It's basically CoD in the Wild West, but with better graphics and a little more enjoyable gameplay. It's a great shooter if you can find it for about $10, and I seriously thought the story was among the best of recent years.

NOLF series, STALKER, Jedi-Knight 2, F.E.A.R. and System Shock 2 are among the best single player FPSs out there.

I thought thatBlack Ops' story was good and had a lot of twists. Some people have no appreciation for CoD single player. I admit the previous games weren't good but this one is.

You should give S.T.A.L.K.E.R. , Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat a try. The games are very creepy.

Call of Cthulu: Darl Corners of The Earth - Based on the books of H.P. Lovecraft. Very creepy game too.
