Hi, what is the best gaming headset i can get for around £100?

i was looking at the Logitech G35 7.1 Surround Sound.

Link

are there any better ones you know of?

someone in the hardware forum said i should buy headphones instead and clip on a mic, should i do this?

if so can you suggest some headphones for the same price.

thanks.

If you can find a Sennheiser HD 555, a clip on mic, and a Xonar DG sound card for about 100 pounds, then that would be your best option. SQ and soundstage on the 555's are remarkable, and the sound card will help bring that quality out of those headphones.

Your not the only one. I was actually gonna say the same. 100 pounds seems to heavy for headphones. It would give you a good workout I guess.

At first I was like, "What the heck is this user doing bumping this old thread?" But you know what? I like finding out what you inevitably decided; thanks for the update. I think you made a good decision, here.

If you're not a hardcore audiophile, or just want good audio/the most out of your HD555s, graba good sound card. ASUS Xonar has a 30 dollar car with a built in headphone amp. My personal recommendation is the Auzentech X-Fi Forte. Best sound car (for the price/performance) ever.

Don't forget to mod the HD555s. They turn into the HD595s with a simple trick that just requires a small phillips screwdriver.

Do the amps there ever die out? like tubes do?

I'm not sure actually. I know they just last a long time. Longer than tubes at least. I plan on swapping out for a military grade opamp when I get the money.

*I misspelled card :P I put car
