Title pretty much sums up what I'm looking to know, or at least a list of the top three cards. Would prefer Nvidia since I've had some horrible headaches with ATI in the past, but I haven't payed attention to new hardware in a few years, so I'm not really sure who is the better (or more stable) card company right now. Thanks.

4890/GTX 275 is probably your best bet. The 5850 is still around the $250 price range and out of reach.

Vote for the 4890. Get one with an aftermarket cooler, like the Powercolor PCS or MSI Cyclone series, and you'll have a card that can easily trump the gtx 275. With overclocking, of course :P

If you could find a GTX 275 for the same price as the 4890, I would pick the GTX 275 because they perform just about the same but the GTX 275 has the added benefits of CUDA and PhysX (While it's not much, it's an added bonus).

Go for HD5850. It's no headache. Really cold, don't take to much. Costs almost nothing if you think about the performance, since its much better than the GTX 285, colder and cheaper. Go for ATI, much better. :)

Just get a HD5850. Best price/performance i've ever seen (maybe after HD4850 or HD5870, that is even with GTX 295 and costs as much as the GTX 285 :O)

I would look into the MSI 4890 Cyclone OC it is IMO the best value card for $200, it can hang in there with the GTX 285 which is in the $300-$350 range. It is factory overclocked so if that is something you are afraid to do it is done modestly already.

I would look at the HD 5850, which beats the GTX 285 in both price (by ALOTALOTALOT) and in gaming (much there to!) + Nvidia doesn't have AA built-in in their drivers, that's what i love with ati ^_^ put in 2x AA in CCC (Catalyst Control Center) and create AA without loosing frames :O (Atleast i haven't noticed any framedrop by that) + i love how the ati cards are smaller to! So much nice to have a small, better and cheaper card than a fat, big overpriced card :)

They have? :O I haven't noticed on my overheating, overpriced 9600m GT x_x Shall look into it, thx for tips. But i'm still against Nvidia: so expensive, their cards are bigger and ftm slower, so... :)

It's not. It barely keeps up with the 4870.

HD 5770 is a card made for people with less money, or none gamers :)

I do not SAY that the card isn't strong or so, just saying; if you wan't to play games, buy HD 5850 or HD 5870, (future-proof with DX 11, overpowered and...just...awesome.)
