Do you know how many watts and the ratings of the 12V+ rail(s) are on your Power Supply?(They are typically on a sticker on the side of the power supply as you open up the computer case) If the Power Supply is good, I would recommend something like this , but that's only if the power supply can take it.

Geforce 9600GT or 9800GT for under $100, Radeon 4850 or 5750 for above $100.

Otherwise you should probably go with a GeForce 9800 GT.

you can always buy some used ones at Amazon, I've done that and it turned out fine. Check this one out if you have a PCI-Express

you got one in there for $50

Assuming your computer isn't 4 years old, it'll probably work. There are basically only two different ports, AGP and PCI-E x16. Chances are you fit the category for PCI-E x16, which is the most common and is compatible. The only issue is with the 4850 and the GTS 250 you need to make sure you Power Supply isn't crap, you can post your specs on here and we can evaluate it(they can be usually found on a sticker attached to the PSU when you open up the case).

i opened up the case and i can see the information on the sticker , it says total output 450W , and it has 3 outputs (130W,168W,192W) is it good enough?

you could also wait for the 5670, it is supposed to come out either this month or next month and shouldn't require much power (it gets it's power through the pci-e slots instead of wired directly to the powersupply) and supposed to be sub $100.
