Best HDTV for Gaming?

which one of these HDTVs are perfect for ps3,360 gaming (LCD,LED,Plasma,or HD CRTs)?

Well there are a few things to take in to consideration,

1, Size

2, Budget

3, Is it just going to be gaming? HD TV? Or freeview?

I wouldn't touch a HD CRT they are some nice models out there but they still take up a lot of room just from having that tube on the back.

LCD has great white and black levels depending on which one you go for [contrast ratio] Very good for gaming but do get a LCD TV with 100hz because when watching freeview it can look quite bad pixilation. Also when you go to look at a LCD ask them what the response time is most shops wont know what you are asking but hey I will break it down for you, its when the pixel opens up to let the light through the lower the response time the quicker and smother the image will be on the screen.

Plasmas are great for games and freeview, I own one and im very very happy with it some people will say that you do get screen burn well yes you do, but that's only if you leave a still image on the screen e.g. sky sports news and say BBC news 24 the information box at the bottom of the screen, it would take over 8 hours of that image to burn on to the screen so don't worry about playing games. Plasmas don't have a response time so there's no bad pixilation when watching sports or just normal freeview. Only problem with them that is they don't make small models, normally 42inch upwards but some times you can find the odd 32inch.

LED well there are some really really nice screens out there at the mo but to be honest they are worse then LCD'S on freeview, HD content looks the bomb don't get me wrong I wouldn't say no to one. But I would only buy one if I was going to use it for gaming and HD content only, a big no no on freeview.

Theres so many models out there that it can get a bit confusing on what you want, it took me 5 months to buy my T.V lol, in that time the misses went out bought a cheap LCD for under 300 pounds 50Hz not great when watching freeview but ideal for gaming the 360/PS3/Wii all look really good, don't forget that the console will be doing most of the work as well.

How far away are you going to be sitting from the T.V? don't think that getting the biggest one is the best because trust me it isn't! If you get a big screen and you up close then you will see every pixel that makes up that picture.

1, tell the sales man that you want to see the LCD/Plasma on HD TV/Freeview/Blue-Ray/PS3/X-Box 360,If it was me buying a T.V I would want to see it on everything, even if you don't have Sky HD/Virgin HD make sure you see it because one day you might get it and if it looks bad then you will be kicking yourself.

2, Don't get pushed into buying one have a look around take your time and find what's best for you on your pocket.

3, Shop around, if you have seen the T.V you like then have a look for it on the high street and online as well, some sites offer free P&P others offer warranty,

4, When buying the T.V you don't have to buy the warranty there and then, you can take it out anytime you want, all electronic items bought in Europe have a 2 year warranty most places will inform you that there's 1 but do your research and you will there's more!!

The guy above has given you very good advice, so listen to him :P. I have a 27 inch mirai lcd tv, and it has a superb picture in hd, and i mostly use it for ps3 gaming. I had a few problems with the brightness and image retention, but i have tweaked it and now it looks so crisp and no more problems. If i was you, i'd go for an lcd, 27 inch is fine for most people, but maybe if u have some space get a 32 as that is ideal. LED is new, and i dont see the point in buying one at the moment as they are usually much more expensive than LCD's.

thugbasher basically gave you all the right advice. my only tip would be this :

holiday sales are coming up and even better, after christmas sales. see if what you're wanting or something comparable might have a lower price around or after the holidays. you might be able to save yourself a couple hundred dollars

I would look for some really good deals on Panasonic 720p plasma tv's 42 inch. I think they are the best bang for the buck, especially for a budget conscious first time hdtv buyer.
