I have the tritton AX 720 pro's and they are great with sound quality. Although they have good sound quality, they have some issues too. These apply to use with the Xbox 360 since that's mainly what I use them for, although occasionally for PS3. The sound quality is good, but when there is no sound coming from the game itself, there is a noticeable static noise. It isn't that bothersome, but noticeable none the less and I'd rather it wasn't there at all. When talking to my friends on Live, I will randomly be unable to hear them speak yet they are able to hear me, or vice-versa. While this doesn't happen a lot, it shouldn't happen at all. The chord falls out of the 360 controller way too easily but normally isn't a problem for me. I like the separate volume controls for both game sound and voice sound, but since it's located on the chord itself, there is an unnecessary and noticeable weight to the headphone chord (somewhat tugging on the headset) which bothers me. The headset itself is comfortable to wear, fully engulfing your ears. All in all, they're good headphones, allowing me to hear stuff much clearer in games I enjoy playing, and even letting me hear stuff I never heard before. I forgot to mention that for the 360, it plugs into the console via optical port, which isn't on the 360. So in order to use the headphones, you have to buy an 'adaptor' by MS (can be purchased at retailer like best buy) which costs $50 (main reason being it comes with a 6' hdmi chord). If they weren't $120 or whatever they cost plus the $50 adaptor ( or however cheap you can get it), I would recommend these. However, for the same price I'm sure you can get a better headset, at least hopefully.
Nah, Plantronics is a budget brand. They deal mostly in phone tech not hifi tech like Beryerdynamic and Audio Technica.PLANTRONICS GAMECOM HEADSET8)

The best gaming headset (NOT AUDIOPHILE) is the Turtle Beach X41. It has the best sound and features that Tritton and Astro do not such as microphone monitoring and chat boost. Also the problem with Tritton and Astro headsets are that they typically have bad bass response, and the Astro's can sound downright "tinny" which is especially not good for a $250 headset. You can find X41's for about $180 from most retailers. Features list here:

That's not true, and there's no other way to put it. Good headphones accurately reproduce the sound it is being fed, though a separate amp is usually important.

And, your playing video games. You want sick bass lets be serious. BOOM
In the nicest way possible, those brands like turtle beach are a joke.
Sennheiser has a brand new lineup called the MX series. They are earbuds. It's most expensive is called the MX980, and it is immensely accurate for gaming. I use it to play Modern Warfare 2 on the pc and its one of the most accurate sets I've ever used, its equally as accurate as the sennheiser HD595 and 600. might be something to look into if you are able to afford $180+shipping from B&H photo.
I use them every day and I can pick up people so far away people call me a cheater :\ I hear the pitter patter of people even using ninja pro sometimes from around the corner with ease. I often use a Shure 840 for gaming, but the Mx980 are way more accurate in pinpointing where things are.
wow. i came in here hoping to learn something. because im useing the ps3 eye cam as a mic and listen to the people talk threw a cheap pairof pcheadphones conntected to a gaming chair i got at walmart for 30 bucks. alot of this audio talk just made my head hurt. i was hoping to find a good headset fpor about 70 bucks that worked for ps3 and 360. guess im out of luck

Good headsets are not good headphones. Headsets are tuned to provide the best positional information not the best sound, hence why even top of the range headsets are reviewed to have no better music sound quality that a pair of HD201s.And, your playing video games. You want sick bass lets be serious. BOOMSithWarrior86No you don't, that clouds the sound and overwhelms positional sound. Footsteps and gun fire locations is what you need to hear not general explosions.
