Do you mean "historically accurate" games or just plain history like CoD and WW2 for example, where it is just based on a historical event, but never actually happened....?
There are plenty of "history" games... but very few "historically accurate" games... Anything from the Total War series is a great start (Shogun, Rome, Medieval 1 or 2, and Empire)...
Empire Earth II, Rise of Nations, Call of Duty 1/2/3/5, Age of Empires series, World in Conflict,

Just FYI to TC... World in Conflict isn't about an "actual" historic event... it is a look back on what a war between the US/NATO and the USSR would have been like in 1989...

Oblivion isn`t a History game.
But TES lore shares some striking similarities with Roman history, so you could say some of it is historically based. Same with it's scenery and architecture
Might as well say that Korean MMO's are also valid historical references.[QUOTE="DKsheep"]
Modern Warfare,Star Craft,Oblivon

Oblivion isn`t a History game.
None of those games are history games.
Modern Warfare is set in a fictional near-future, Star Craft is futuristic sci-fi nonsense, and Oblivion is a fantasy game with magic and goblins, making it about as historical as The Lord Of The Rings.

Might as well say that Korean MMO's are also valid historical references.I'm not saying it's "historically accurate". I'll rephrase that Oblivion is "historically inspired"

Not WWII, it was Tolken's experiances in WWI. Though they're might have been some WWII themes since the series was written in that era.

No one on drugs could come up with such an epic tale as The Lord of the Rings.

Actually, Lord Of The Rings is a blatant rip off of various ancient German fantasy tales. Any relations to WWI are coincedental. The relations to WWII are largely due to Hitler's own love for these old tales and want to make Germany more traditional.I wouldn't say Age of Empires. The whole priest healing thing and conversion seems a little odd. Maps are all randomly made. About 62% of the battles are real. Oblivion is a good one for old European Folklore and mysticism, but thats not necessarily history. A free game on Steam called Insurgency is pretty fun. Basically US Gulf War source game. One of the best games I've played where it comes to realism. Any surface or window you can set up bipod weapons like the US sniper rifle. Or the M249 and PKM actually have belt disappear and stop feeding into the hopper when you need to reload a thing I've seen many games forget. No crosshairs, all weapons have physics bases and do accurate damage.tunnelsnake24
I love Insurgency. If you don't mind the current history theme, and have a Source engine game, get it. It's amazing, although hard.
What is wrong with you people???
The besthistorical RTS game that would go perfect with your computer is: Company of Heroes. This game is engaging, graphically amazing, and is actually real time. The map changes as you play own, and in turn you have to change your stragety constantly.
If you want my personal opinion, just ignore everyone here, and get Company of Heroes as your RTS and Call of Duty for your FPS.
God, reading this thread actually fills me with rage! Assassin's Creed? Call of Duty? Company of Heroes?! Are you people serious? What are they teaching in history class these days?
OK, ignore absolutely everything listed thus far.
Here is a partial list of games you might wish to look into.
