Clive Barker's Undying and System Shock 2, if you aren't needing the most up to date graphics on the market.

killing floor, it's a online game( you can play by yourself though), but it gets pretty intense. no story mode though just shooting.
lol CB's undying was the first game i thought of when i read the title. i never found the fear games scary... at all
Not really a FPS but it is the in the first person viewpoint the Penumbra series of games are very creepy as you never really have a way of protecting yourself. There is a new game coming out soon aswell.
