well if you are only limited to the two mentioned, then go for the E4700. I wouldnt touch anything with the name Pentium tbh, as they are old processors that use older technology and arcitecture. Chris_53
Pentium Dual-Cores are just fine. They are a Core2, just with less cache.
Now Pentium 4's and Pentium D's, yeah they were not so great, but the "Pentiums" he linked are good CPU's.

Seriously, if you don't know what you're talking about don't bother posting. The E5*00 series are based on the same 45nm architecture as the awesome E8*00 series just with less cache and a slower FSB. Hell it even says Wolfdale in the description.

Lol no worries dude, its cool. I was in a crappy mood myself so i apologise for my reaction :).Hi You have to see what bios version you have on your board. Looks like
your board was made by Intel. You have an Intel 945GC Northbridge chipset. I went to Asus site and checked the same
Northbridge chipset on their boards just to see what they have done with their bios versions. Asus
seems to have been able to support 1066Mhz bus natively but 1333 bus will revert to 1066. I found this
forum thread: http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/725714-cpu-bios-upgrade.html
Looks like you will have to go over to the Intel site and see if you can get a bios flash update.
Better check what bios version you have now at this point. Maybe it is new enough to support
the E4700. If you are lucky maybe the new bios will allow you to put in a processor with a 1066Mhz
front side bus.

Lol no worries dude, its cool. I was in a crappy mood myself so i apologise for my reaction :). Being wrong is a civil offsense, gosh :P.Sorry, I'm quite illiterate when it comes to the BIOS. I found out which BIOS version I have "GATEWA - 3ef". There is a new update on the Intel site but it says not to update unless I have a specific problem (which, I don't know if I do) So how do I know whether I can use the e4700, or possibly even a processor with a 1066Mhz bus? And if I need to update the BIOS in either case?Hi You have to see what bios version you have on your board. Looks like
