I agree Alex it was an amazing game still one of the most memoriable gaming experiences ever. It was my first pc game and after playing it I knew pc gaming was for me.
right... the fact that you cant freeplay and do missions at the same time doesnt mean anything to you? no thanks mafia sucks.. at the first 5 missions its taxi driver not mafia... ohh and too crappy design!

Mafia is story/character driven game, GTA is a mission driven game with some lame ass story showing its head now and then. Infact GTA IV tries to be more like Mafia then previous GTA games (except for the "sandbox" elements). Its not even funny how many action sequences they stole from Mafia and they are not even done as good. Having said that, both are good games and deserve praise for different reasons

ask me just because mafia is doing...EVERYTHING different including the maps and the radar it doesnt mean its best that way.. at least all gta clones are not doing it that way...

plz mafia is story driven in gta iv you cn try out stuff, thats why its borring no super wow story like mafia and if you ask me sandbox games should be sandbox.. mafia wasnt sandbox everyone played it for the missions.. unlikely gta iv doesnt rely in missions but in the true sandbox idea... drive the cars a little bit shoot some people... mafia is like you already played the game and learn how everything works so imidiately it throw you to the main story... like you know how vehicles drive and how guns recoil... before you even drive and shoot.. right in the begging of the game... but the thing is...you don't. So id stick to gta iv or whatever at least there i can drive a bit and learn how to play the game.. not getting blown apart and play the same god dam mission for 60 times just because am not ready to drive a super fast sport vehicle with terrible handling and no roof. (so getting killed everytime you your vehicle rolls... but the other races dont... they simply roll back up! The thing is you gotta complete that mission to ge past that point and so far the game is about taxi driving missions that you cant avoid or racing... ITS CALLED MAFIA GODDAMMIT! .....LOL on this one but so true... id rather play gta...also i kinda hate that in mercenaries 2 i am not allowed to explore the map... so i guess mafia is NOT sandbox at all!
Mafia, gosh the characters, the story, the gameplay(post race nerf), were fantastic. Can't tell you how many times i went back and played the bank, boat levels.
I wouldn't even call gta a mafia game. The missions revolve around organised crime but with little or no importance of things like respect, family, honour, etc which I associate with mafia. So, I agree with the majority; mafia is the best mafia game and easily recommendable.

I used to run the radio stations of vice city through the options menu, but still it seems a little strange you would want to watch tv in a video game when you think about it..
