I think the 2407 recently switched to a worse PVA panel than before, which means less accurate color.

The way Dell does these things is they release IPS versions to reviewers, and then later switch to cheaper and cheaper panels thinking no one is going to notice.

Update, OK it seems they're still using the good Samsung PVA, so that's a decent choice.

If you really want to ask the experts check out this forum.

In fact, just read through some of the recent threads there and you'll find what you're looking for.

Just make sure you never buy a TN panel, the horrible color will scar you for life. Oh yes, I learned the hard way.

Yeah I wasn't referring to the 2407 when I said IPS, I was just giving an example of how cheap dell is.

Yeah, its messed up but still, if you want an S-IPS you cant get one.

i would go for the 20" NEC 20WMGX2, it might be 1680x1050, but u wont have to upgrade as much. i myself am using a nice 19" widescreen 1440x900, and i love it, but i dont think that would quite suit u.

HP and Gateway have been releasing some real nice monitors lately, I dont know who makes their panels(probably samsung) but they are really good.
