doom, doom2, cybermage, duke nukem 3d, dune 2, warcraft 2, starcraft, dark reign, total annihilation, might and magic, quake, tomb raider, dark forces, dungeon keeper, sam and max, decent, hexen, heretic, magic carpet, wolfenstein 3d.

Im kind of a old games freak:). i use to play the ZORK series. its a text based advanture. Zork I cam outh in the midle 80s. and it was a balast. the frightnig ambient cept me playing for days. its just like reading a realy addicting book but you can affect the storyline. its amaizing. i have never seen that kind of freedom in a game.
Bot i have layeb man y others old games lake quest for Glory series and Duke Nukem, Redneck rampage, prahistoric, golden axe, the day of the tanticles was one of may favourites and it still is, also the sins of the fathers was a revolutionari finding for me. its an amazing game. the GK series has never reached that kind of inovation again. it was so ahead of the alike games.
its better to love nad lost, then to never love at all

Thats all I can think of but Iam sure there is more like diablo rtcw, sam and max, star craft
Doom was a great game, but it hasn't aged well.
Diablo 2, Riven, Buldurs Gate 2, Fallout 2, Morrowind, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament (1999), Tribes (you can get it for free), Thief 1-2 ( although I encountered problems with them on XP, but I solved them :) ), Warcraft 3, C&C: Red Alert 2, The Longest Journey, Grim Fandango etc.
My all time favorite game would be Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics Brotherhood of steel.
But from the two i have two thumbs up with Fallout tactics. I love recruiting mutants and assembling you robot and of course, who would not forget the plasma rifle and pulse rifle. I love using the plasma rifle when killing humans... they melt!
Sheesh, Fallout. This game is brilliant. Also see Fallout 2. Most games have been surpassed by newer games in terms of true quality. Fallout is one of the few I can think of that hasnt been. Its graphics are old, but the roleplaying is amazing. It also works on XP. Its mature for sure, with Fallout 2 being even worse...or better depending of your point of view. This game comes from a time where PC games could slip under the radar without Senators complaining about melting children with plasma weapons. Besides, you can kick rats in the groin. I mean what else do you want? Prostitution? Slavery? Drugs? All there, you can save the world or exploit it. Seriously, its a great game.
The one and only Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction nothing can beat it its so classic and people still play online today which is great! But Warcraft and Starcraft come soon behind cause they also rock. Blizzard classics are so much better.
Starcraft
Alien versus Predator 2
Homeworld 1 + 2
Dawn of War (I think it's pretty old... excluding the expansions)
Tribes. It's free now.
Ground Control 2 (never tried 1. I should try it)
I didn't play its original 1992 release, and probably didn't even know about it until the 2002 open-source remake, but I'll be damned if SC2:UQM isn't the greatest game ever!NamelessPlayer
Yeah, Star Control 2 was awesome! I never played through the PC version, but played the 3DO version, loved it!
Toys For Bob is trying to convince Activision that they should start working on a new Star Control game
Starcraft
Alien versus Predator 2
Homeworld 1 + 2
Dawn of War (I think it's pretty old... excluding the expansions)
Tribes. It's free now.
Ground Control 2 (never tried 1. I should try it)
holyknight234
hey almost forgot to tell also, AVP 2 is one of my fave because you can play as th "Predator". Stalking human and scaring them with the scream of the predator... c'mon! Predator really kick ass with homing disc and changing your the view on how the predator see.
Some of the games being listed are only 5-10 years old.
My favorites, (and I'm talking 80's, except for one game)
System Shock 1 enhanced CD version, scariest and most intriguing story I've ever found in a game.
Bard's TaleI: Tales of the Unknown
Bard's Tale II: The Destiny Knight (took 7 months to finish this due to a riddle I couldn't solve, and mapping by hand)
Bard's Tale III: Thief of Fate
Starcraft
Alien versus Predator 2
Homeworld 1 + 2
Dawn of War (I think it's pretty old... excluding the expansions)
Tribes. It's free now.
Ground Control 2 (never tried 1. I should try it)
holyknight234
Good lord boy, how old are you...8? AvP 2 and Homeworld are not old games by a longshot. And Dawn of War? I still consider that a newish game.
Sheesh, you make me feel like an old man and I am barely into my 20s!
