CS takes around 3 bullets to kill:?
That's pretty realistic. People don't die quickly with one shot. Many instances all over the internet of people that were shot over 5 times center of mass and only died minutes later.
Brothers in Arms? Although you do have to stay behind cover since it's trying to be a 'realistic' FPS. No running and gunning in that game...
Instagib mode for Unreal Tournament is/was a blast. Probably the most fun I've ever had playing a FPS online was playing low gravity instagib matches in UT.
Its got a solid community backing it, it's not as extremely active as say Battlefield 3 but you'll definitely find a few full servers to play in. Its also the best game I can recommend here, it generally takes a shot or two to kill someone and even then getting kills isn't easy. This combination generally leads to some of the most satisfying gameplay and kills you can get in an online game.I had fun with red orchestra 2. Not sure if people still play it though.
But yeah you die really fast, just one pistol shot is enough to kill you, but it's all about shot placement.

im not a big fan of FPSs with body armor, because i dont like strafing back and forth repetitively shooting a guy ive already shot. i like COD hardcore modes (very little health), and i just tried the new counter strike but there is too much armor in that game, its too much like halo to me. whats a good pvp online multiplayer shooter where i only have to shoot somebody a realistic amount of times for them to die?sdl175
You can one-shot with almost every gun in CS.

Every gun in CS:GO will instakill if no helmet...UT2004 or Quake Live instagib. EPIC! Also, yeah, if it's taking you so many shots to kill someone in counterstrike that it's frustrating, it's because your aim is terrible, not because of armor. Also, depending on where you get hit, not dying after only a few shots is actually very realistic. It takes a massive gun shooting a powerful round to do lethal damage anywhere but they head/neck/center of the chest. Assuming, of course, medical attention is available. You'll die from blood loss after taking a single 9mm to the leg, eventually, if you do absolutely nothing to tend the wound.

Wait, did you just say that? Do you even know what you're talking about?

Oh yeahhhhh, I almost forgot! DayZ is awesome because you die in one-hit from the majority of the better guns, so you've gotta be careful you don't die or you lose all of your stuff. You need Arma II Combined Operations (Arma II & Operation Arrowhead) to play it, though.

You will be sacrificed, Gabe N's next meal.
Vegas 2, SWAT 4 and GRAW 2 are also very good.
OP should check out Insurgency and ArmA 3. Both are realistically unforgiving shooters in very different styles. Insurgency is more about close quarters tactical firefights and ArmA is more of a massive battle simulator with infantry engagements often taking place well over a hundred yards apart.

Lol for digging up such an old thread
However, pretty interesting topic never the less.
I'm really interested in buying Insurgency, as it offers kind of the same tactical and realistic gameplay that Red Orchestra 2 does.

Insurgency reminds me more of the old Rainbow Six and America's Army games. RO2 has quite a different feel from it. Its still a lot of fun though.

Ok, I saw that comparison being made by TB as well.
But don't you think the sway of the weapons and power of the weapons resembles RO ?

Yeah, sorry! Only noticed afterwards this is some old topic. nice fipo huh?
Americas Army 2.5 is still active(I just read its down -_-). AA:3 and AA: Proving Grounds don't cut it imho.
And I added Shootmania Storm, it has some really great custom servers running instagib mode. (free trials are available)

to an extent, fully auto weapons in insurgency probably have a bit less recoil than the ones in RO2 but they still kick enough to make shooting more than a few bullets at once a challenge if you want to actually hit your target. They still feel very deadly though.
1 shot one skill = no aiming required
it's almost all prediction/positioning for millitary shooters
instagib is fine though
I used to play the absolute shit out of Unreal Tournament 2004 zoom instagib mode. Morpheus. All day, err day.

Gotham City Impostors is awesome and way under-rated. We were getting to the end of a match and one of the Jokerz was landing from a spring-heeled boot jump. I plucked him out of the air with one headshot. I'm assuming he was at or near full-health with the way he was advancing (plus he actually acknowledged the take down with a, "Nice shot, whoever that was.") I think I kind of surprised him. Admittedly, I surprised myself with that one, too. The Buccaneer is high power but unwieldy at times.
Oh, and just to repeat. That was a spring-heeled boot jump. Just one of many gadgets, gear, perks and weapons that all blend together into awesomeness. How many FPS's have spring-heeled boots? Right.
I wasn't into the game that much until I got t o like the 36-hour mark or so. That is when it really clicked for me. Plus, it's FREE and for the most part players are friendly or at least not too often troll-y.
Unreal Tournament, Instagib Mode. Dying is frequent and inevitable that it actualy because fun, especially men that voice goes "RAAAAMMMMPPPAAAAAAGEEE !"
I agree with this. Such a fast-paced game. :)

Actually, Americas Army 2.5 is up again under a whole new auth server made completely separate from the devs.
Also to anyone who says his aim sucks in CS, that's only half true. CS nerfs body shots and its beyond frustrating, sure you may not die getting shot twice int he body, but bets are that you wont continue fighting.
COD hardcore model is pretty legit.
In real life it'll probably take about 1-2 bullets from a .22LR @ center mass for you to go down and become unconscious (assuming you're not on cocaine, or some other stimulant).
The problem doing this comparison is bullets don't kill you the majority of the time if they don't hit internal organs - it's the bleeding that kills you.
For example,
A bullet to the stomach is a guarantee kill (assuming you're more than 10mins away from a hospital) - while a bullet in the head is survivable if it doesn't penetrate the brain stem.
The Bolt actions in COD1 were great, I miss those skill cannons so much.
Anyway Red Orchestra 2 is probably the most relevant answer here.
