Hi guys,

So i've decided i've had enough of my old basic mouse and want a gaming mouse instead. That said, i'm spoiled for choice and wondered if anyones got any advice? I play a variety of game genres and so it would need to suit that but at the moment i'm more ficused on mmo's.

My left hand is a bit messed up from having to get a metal plate in it from a boxing injury and so it feels stiff and slower than it used it I can operate WASD effectively (just) , so I'm looking for it to have a fair few customisable buttons so i don't feel handicapped and slow for pvp or deathmatches etc .I've got a budget of around £65 pounds tops

So far sites say the Naga, G500 and Cyborg Rat 5-7 are good, Heres what i found out;

The Cyborg has precision aim, loos like a transformer but only has 5 buttons (even if ergonomic) and apparently has awful customer service.

The Naga has 12 buttons but seems to only focus on mmo and the buttons seem small and unergonomic. I noticed they have released the Naga Hex, anyone used this, looks like the buttons are in better positions but only half of them are there?

The G500 has a good rep but doesn't boast anything special. (Have i missed the point on this one?)

What do you think? Anyone had any of these mice and care to share their opinions? Or have/had a gaming mouse which they rate?

Thanks

I love the G500. It's comfortable, precise, and has all the buttons and features you'll ever need.

I got its older brother, the G700, its 7 customisable buttons and also different profile sets for games, also an adjustable DPI.

I agree the G500 does look very good but did you feel held back in MMO's as it only has 5 button that can be used for gaming? (realistically)

Anyone used any other mice? Opinions. thoughts etc

I heard the Cyborg MMO7 was good for ahem MMO's.... Any thoughts on the Hex?

Thanks

I have a Cooler Master Storm Inferno that has 11 buttons (they can be remapped) on it. I have had it for about a week and really like it. Decided to try something new to replace my G9x that was wearing out. Link below. CM Storm Inferno

I also have the cordless G700, it controls better then any mouse i've had before. Only downsides is the buttons are in somewhat odd locations and take time getting used to. Also the left and right click buttons are a bit too easy to hit by accident... especially the right click.

And the battery life is extremely short, maybe 1 or 2 days at high usage (not a big deal though since u can swap in any AA rechargable battery within seconds) And i have a ton of AA batteries sitting around, its actually kinda useful to keep my AA batteries in a good charging cycle instead of sitting around aging and not having their cells charged up.

My old mouse was a logitech mx1000, which had superior button layout, but not as accurate movement control as the G700... tough switch, but overall, the better movement of the G700 beats the mx1000... even though the mx1000 feels much better.

Sounds like the G500 is good then. Anyone had experience with the cyborgs or the new Naga Hex?

I use a Logitech G500. I find the shape comfortable (right-hand palm grip user here), it has plenty of buttons (I've become dependent on having at least three thumb buttons now), the DPI switch buttons are placed in a much more comfortable location compared to the G5 I had before it, the Teflon feet are nice and large to ensure a smooth glide, and since I'm a mid/high-sensitivity user, I don't hit malfunction speeds on its Avago 9500 laser sensor. However, I'm not averse to trying out other mice. I handled someone else's Cyborg R.A.T. 5 or 7 (don't recall the exact variant) before, and it was surprisingly comfortable in spite of the hideous aesthetic to the point where I'd be willing to try the M.M.O. 7 for its even greater amount of buttons, if not for its hideously expensive price, around US$100. Note that I paid $42 brand new with tax for my G500 (Best Buy was having an after-Christmas sale at the time). Also, the Razer DeathAdder/Mamba shape is very comfortable to me, and the thumb buttons are large and have a solid click. The DA's optical sensor is widely regarded as one of the best out there, especially for low-sensitivity users. My only gripe is that there just aren't enough buttons.

all comes down to preference and grip style. as well wether or not your left or right handed.

so yeah technically any mouse is a good overall mouse. i like my diamondback 3g. others prefer the mx510 or the rat 7. heck i know folks who still use gneeric logitech and microsoft mice. i even know a dude who games using a microsoft curve mouse *shudders* i could neevr see myself using a curve.. that thing is jsut foreign to me

I was going to get the Logitech M510, but I just recently found the Microsoft Wireless 7000 Rechargeable Laser Mouse. The 7000 wireless laser only uses one AAA battery, so it's very light, it's got extra buttons, it's got a rechargeable base, and it's almost identical to the $200 Logitech MX Revolution. And you can find them for about $20 now, so I'm going to go ahead and get that one personally. The best mouse that I ever owned was a MS mouse. Hopefully this one won't disappoint...

yah, what youve missed is that logitech make better quality mice than razor. just google "razor mouse problems". if you can, get an mx518, the king of all mice. if you want examples of mx518 performance, youtube "thatfknninja".

I have a G500. Its a pretty good mouse but I have my complaints about it.

I dont like the placement for the thumb buttons. They are a bit far back so its a little awkward reaching that last button because when you curl your thumb back that far, your index also has to curl (anatomy). Also the wheel is a little weak.

I have the G5 (which to my knowledge is quite similar to the G500, it is the G500s predecessor), and honestly I love this mouse. Feels great in the hand, and is just very ergonomic. Also have the (and had) the Deathadder, MX518 and the Abysus, and honestly, the G5 is still the best one I have had/used.

I'm still using an ancient Copperhead, if I decide to replace it I think I'ld go with a Steelseries Sensei personally. However for most users as a general recommendation with no knowledge of their preferences I'ld recommend the Logitech G500 as it's the best all rounder (it's too tall for my tastes).

No real quake players play quake 3 plus the lightning guns for noobs because its; just a solid beam u move back and forth across enemy. Use rockets for splash damage which i never seen u doing upclose and railgun long distance.
