Hey, I've been gaming on the pc for a while, but not much for fps, mostly RTS, I love them greatly. I'm getting a new PC tomorrow. New titles such as Bioshock along with old ones like FEAR are wanting me to try out more fps, but I am not very familiar/comfortable using a kb/m for the controls. Please have mercy on me, as that is one of the reasons PC users say that PC fps' are better is because of the kb/m, but I'm just not adapted to it. For those who have used them, could you give some suggestions to good controllers for the pc?

If you had to use a controller, that would probably be the right one for the job.

Thanks guys for the help. I have been looking at the 360 controller, just wanted to make sure that there wasn't one that was better or something else. Also, thanks for the consideration, I thought I was going to get flamed horrendously :D

Mouse and keyboard, nubnub. Go back to your stupid console where you belong! Rawrawr.

(360 controller is probably your best bet :) That was sarcasm btw, just in case you think I'm evil.)

Well, I might as well echo, get the 360 controller.

Not only is it a well designed pad, but I think many games that are going to be on a console and PC will support this pad. Like in RB6:V, it ONLY supports this pad and no other.

Get the logitech rumble2, it's the best and is same like ps2 controller. I like that one better because i'm not used to xbox pad. It has weird located thumbsticks. Logitech is the best company that makes controllers, mice, keyboard. I always buy logitech products. GO Logitech!!! They have a air mouse coming soon, it will be same like wii controller. We will play games on pc like wii. It will totally awesome. PC gaming will change because of that. I was gettin bored of pc but new change coming with this air mouse. Wait, do not get a pad, get that>>>>>>>>>>>-----{-}-]

Um dude...just so you know..if you ever take that controller online ...everyone else is using kb/mouse...yeah you will likely not stand a chance against even novice players. just a heads up.

yep i agree the 360 one is good, but then logitech make some good controllers as well. My mouse , keyboard and steering wheel are all logitech and they work well and are great, but i still use a 360 controller for some racing games like trackmania united.

One thing though i would get a good mouse and just try to get used to it when playing a fps. it will be hard initially but once you get used to it, you'll probably never touch a controller again for a FPS

On the logitech one: If its designed same as dualshock/sixaxis definately go for 360. For me at least, it fits in my hands so much better and nowadays nobody uses the d-pad for movement in games so the "weirdly located thumbsticks" actually works well. Its really ergonomic, when I occasionally dig out my playstation after a while of gaming my hands tend to ache, never happens on my 360.

I should also mention that you'll need the wired 360 controller or the wireless one bundled with the reciever thingie. If you have to buy the reciever alone it's like an extra $20.

Also if I read your post right you want this for RTS games??? I should note that most RTS games don't support controllers besides those w/ the games for windows logo on them (and I'm not sure how well those are w/ controller support).

For shooters I prefer a keyboard substitute such as the ****** Nostromo (for Win XP) or the Ideazon Fang (for Vista). You can program the keyboard layout to your taste, you don't have to deal with all the extra keys on the normal keyboard, and you get to use the mouse with it.

HAND??? There are no better controllers than that part of our body.

lol, anyway.....get a 360 for now....BUT I INSIST YOU PLAY GAMES WITH KB/MOUSE....sure gonna take some time...but after you adopt that, you'll throw away your 360 controller when your playing FPS and RTS or any game that uses a mouse.

I have the 360 controller and it rocks. I also tried the Rumblepad 2 and its nice, though Id rather have the "oddly arranged thumbsticks" of the 360 controller. Its more comfortable that way, I dont use the D-Pad

Nooo, I use kb/m for things such as RTS, but I haven't played many FPS, so I am not very skilled using the kb/m for those types of games.

kb/m takes some getting used to, but its generally better for pc fps games, like fear (especially if you plan to play multiplayer, which you really should, its easily among the best multiplayer games out there). I find the controller is slightly smoother and more natural for movement and many other functions, but its just that little bit slower in twitch aiming, which makes all the difference in most pc fps'. you can use chat with kb/m too, lol. If you really want a controller tho, the 360 one is great.

The best PC controller is the keyboard and mouse...

If you play with a gamepad you will not be able to enjoy playing online because you will get raped harder than the constitution by the PATRIOT act.
