If you want an xbox style controller than you have 2 choices. The xbox 360 controller and logitech chillstream.
The xbox 360 controller will have out of the box support for more games than the logitech one however it is almost twice the cost of the logitech one.I dont know about the xhillstream but i have the logitech rumblepad 2 and to me it feels better than the ps2 controller.
It must be noted that with the logitech gamepad you will get software which will allow you to play any game with the gamepad whether it supports a gamepad or not.I dont know whether such software is available for the 360 controller.

ive got this and its absolutely quality, quick delivery and runs all my games, wire is long enough to sit almost anywhere and play and doesnt get in the way, installed straight away (on vista) and comes with an instillation disc if it doesnt auto install
usb to connect to pc but also has the end which plugs into scarts (if you know what im an about)just searched the chillstream, looks exactly like the xbox game pad, except its logitech obviously
also it does make sense, windows --> microsoft, xbox --> microsoft, so the controllers should work
although only the wired ones, the wireless i tihnk you need an adapter which brings it to about £30, hmv i think its off

the most useful is the x360 controler due to it being the only one many games support. the logitech rumble pad is also great but many "games for windows' games don't support itimprezawrx500Games like crysis and bioshock dont seem to support but why would you play then with a gamepad anyways.
All the racing and sports games seem to have out of box support which is what matters.
I haver a Wireless Logitech Rumblepad II and would recomend it to anyone! It's a great device (just like all Logitech's products, I also have the G15 keyboard, G5 mouse and a joystick) and it can work with any game thanks to it's software. You can use the software to asign the buttons on the gamepad to any key on your keyboard...
I had two other gamepads before the Rumblepad II (another wired Logitech and a XFX one) and the Rumblepad II is by far most confortable for me to use... I am 6 foot 4 and have big hands:)

That's getting a bit old..wireless input technology isn't what it used to be.
I guess it depends on the controller, but you aren't going to have "problems" with a wireless 360 pad..unless you're trying to use it from a few rooms away.

Nope. Chances are he's never tried the wireless 360 controller and is simply making things up. I've been using my wireless adapter for a couple years now (with controllers from my 360) and haven't run into a single issue with it. My only gripe is when you're done with it, you have to wait for the controller timer to automatically turn the device off (or rip the battery out, which I don't recommend doing regularly.)
