What's your best RPG game for the pc???

Planescape Torment...Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines is also a good mention but planescape still......that better.

well you assume mass effect 2 and d3 to be some of the best. you KNOW nothing of the future. im going to say this is the current list (that most will agree on):

mass effect

diablo 2

TES: chapter 2 and/or 3 (bit of a tie)

neverwinter nights 1&2 (again bit of a tie)

and as a wild card: alien shooter vengance (simply because i found it amusing)

Just to make clear: Doom 3 is an FPS and Mortal Combat is Action.

KoTOR I/II, The Witcher and Mass Effect.

neverwinter nights + exspansions

if you want somthing that also has up2date grafics then the witcher.

i would also recomend mass effect, its a very good game but so is the witcher and the witcher is a good bit longer.

Some of my favorite rpgs....Kotor 1, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, and The Witcher. They're very good games. :)

Fallout 3

Basicly flip a coin and chose ANY Black Isle game ;) Honerably mention must be Vampire the masquerade: Bloodlines for the best one in later years.

The Witcher is not the best but it IS one of the best of the last 2 years.

Personally Mass Effect left me with a bad taste in my mouth, moving so far to 3rd person shooter, it was like it was 2 games, the rpg, when you were on the space station, and 3rd person shooter when in missions, and they never really overlapped eachother, so it felt like you were playing 2 different games.

Also, I would dare say that Diablo has as much to do with rpgs as a shooter has, it has stats, but otherwise you have no say at all about the story, its more of a hack and slash. No choice, no social interaction, maybe a rpg lite sort?That said Diablo 1 was awesome ^^ and Diablo 2 multiplayer was aweful fun online :D

The best RPG on PC...in this gen its either Oblivion, Fallout 3 or The Witcher.stike22

Morrowind better than all 3 of those though not really this gen. All three of those games are a bit more action oriented than I would like, not bad games but feel lacking in the soul of a RPG.

If you like JRPGS the only one I can think of that was PC exclusive that was good was Anachronox.

For a shooter RPG Deus Ex (My opinion I barely consider this a RPG)

baulders gate, icewind dale, planescape

There was a number of Wizardy games that were good.

More recently, I haven't played through drakensang enough yet to give a good recomendation on it but reminds me of days of more hardcore RPGs.

fallout 2, probably (though, playing the tech demo, van buren feels like it would have been even better). planescape : torment was pretty good.

edit : though, if you want 3d, go for morrowind.
