and tbh though its a technicality dowII is argueably a very solid contenteder.. its singleplayer isnt long and its not turn based as is stereotypical of the sub-genre but its certainly satisfying.

but if you want to be puritain about it my vote goes to x-com terror from the deep.

If it qualifies, I think I would choose Heroes of Might and Magic 2. It has a very special place in my heart. Some might argue that Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is the superior game, but the art, sound, and music of 2 wins me over.

It is good to see an X-Com 2 fan out there. I also like the game a lot. Some say that it is too difficult and poorly balanced. My response is, you expect aliens to invade Earth and it be a fair fight?

Edit: A few posts on this thread makes me want to go online and buy Terror from the Deep. I heard some bad things about it, but maybe I should ignore those and get the game anyway.

Anyway... best Strategy RPG of all time is Final Fantasy Tactics, hands down.

Best SRPG on PC: Silent Storm

I really enjoyed Temple of Elemental Evil as well.

My favorite period would probably be Shinning Force, but on the PC it would be either King's Bounty or Silent Storm.Renevent42

Shining Force 1 and 2 are both on the PC now via the genesis pack. My favorite is Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions but Shining Force 2 is the best that the PC has.

hmmm... i haven't played a whole lot of them, but i'd say Vandal Hearts or one of the Front Missions. both on PS1.

I would say that it's easily Silent Storm, although X-Com and the King's Bounty games are also amazing.Planeforger

i'd say Silent Storm and X-Com are more turn based strategy games. great ones, that is.

Fallout 3 is not a SRPG, it's not even a good RPG!. I would say Jagged Allience, Xcom, even Fallout Tactics is ok.

Fire Emblem is pretty awesome. However FE 4 is better than FE 7 in almost every way. Just out of curiousity, what is your favorite PC SRPG?

I'm guessing those that have played it will say Baldur's Gate 2 or Planescape Torment. I've not played either, but I know these have frequently been tagged with the accolade.

Ogre Battle, FF Tactics, Valkyria Chronicles, Fire Emblem. Love them all equaly :P
