Best RTS game, now and expected

Hi,

I'm the best RTS game, not only now, but also what is around the corner.
I've played some World In Conflict, Red Alert series, Commandos and others from that period. I'm not into WOW and games like that.
What I would like is a game with a good singleplayer game. A game good for LAN, and a game that I can play Co-Op with a friend.
Let me hear some cons and pros.

Medieval 2 Total War and Company of Heroes.

Right now you got your Medieval 2: Total War, Company of Heroes, World in Conflict, Sins of a Solar Empire, all of which are outstanding games.

In several months Dawn of War 2 and Empire: Total War will be released and look to be very promising games.

Now - World in Conflict

Expected - Either Dawn of War 2 or Demigod.

I saw the first Total War game and didn't like it much but anyway that is probably your answer. You get an army, work out what to do with it.

All the other base-building games are not much to do with strategy; you just build as many powerful units as fast as possible, grab them all with the mouse and click on the enemy. They are all the same and nothing very strategic, all about numbers.

Medieval 2 Total War and Company of Heroes.

For me personally there is no RTS game that has even been able to compare to supreme commander. I have been playing almost everyday since i got the original in feb 2007. Then there is the expansion forged alliance which makes it even better.

Just a couple of points though, first you need a good pc to play this game properly as its very demanding especially on your cpu and second the real fun lies in the online play where although it hasn't got the biggest community you never have a problem getting a game.

Oh and i almost forgot the learning curve is very steep so when first playing online you lose alot before you start to win.

If you can get past his however and love your rts games you will find it hard to play some others after this imo.

Upcoming: Warhammer 40, 000: Dawn of War II / Empire: Total War

In my opinion, all Blizzard RTS are like that...Micro crazyness with all those koreans proud of 200 actions per minute

There are others games although, that is not about numbers and clicking speed

You should be locked up to the cave you crawled from. It is nothing like C&C, it is much more strategic and the scale is much larger. Perhaps you should try it first before commenting on it?

Starcraft or Praetorians

Starcraft just because it is fundamentally great--faction diversity, gameplay, unit abilities...

Praetorians because it's all combat and there is no resource gathering AND if you are remotely interested in Roman history then it is a bonus.

Future:

Starcraft 2

Plus it's only $15 download at the blizzard store, great place to get started before SC2 comes out.

Company Of Heroes would be the bet.

World in Conflict and Company of heroes for now.

Empire total war and Dawn of War 2 soon.

Well, I've played a lot of C&C, and Red Alert too, but got tired of all that building. But I must say... I had a lot of fun playing the games also in LAN

Now: Company of Heroes and Medieval 2

Expected: Be sure to look out for Empire Total War and Dawn of War 2.

Now: Dawn of war or Starcraft

Expected: Starcraft 2 + Dawn of war 2
