What are your favourite PC games based on their story? Which ones moved or amazed or simply had the biggest impact on you? And please mention multi-platform games too if there happens to be a PC ver. too.

BioWare games have good stories generally(although I'm not too thrilled by Mass Effect 2, just started it today).

Unfortunately I didn't. I had a choice, and as far as I am concerned, ME2 is supposedly better than ME1.
Pre/post apocalyptic scenarios.
Time travel, either for the actual characters or from your point of view in the overall plot.
Where you find out you have great potential and are able to later to return to your starting point with much greater power (most RPGs I know, but it does work).
Romance or close friendships that have an actual effect on the game and plot.
Open worlds/multiple paths.
In game trading/economies.

ME2 is better than ME1, yes, but it looses alot of value if you haven't played ME1
World in Conflict has a great story and unique premise what if the cold war hadn't ended and russia invaded the U.S. They brought the fight close to home and it had a bigger impact to me felt like you where fighting for something that you could relate to. The presentation and pacing of the story is top notch. DJ_Headshot
Thumbs up for you friend.
Main thing about World in Conflict is how well they focuses on the characters, the expansion also added a lot to the story. It is in it's core a a war game with a tone of pacifism, it is not a major american bull**** you'd expect from a plot where the U.S.A is invaded by Russia (like MW2, oh dear lord this game story enrages me).

He is of the opinion that all the people who say ME2 is better than the first game are correct in their opinions. I played both ME1 and ME2 and thought they were both fun at first, but went nowhere storywise, had bland characters, and were pretty mediocre overall. But then I'm also of the opinion that pretty much all Bioware games are like that... the one exception being KotOR.[QUOTE="Resistance_Kid"]

Never said I do. I said WE do. We as in the human race, and based on the opinion of the human race, ME2 is better than the original :P
I'd say BG II, Joneleth was a villain that was pretty complex and the game makes you feel that, given the same circumstances, you would have done the same things he did.
Most Bioware games after that had a similar skeleton for their storylines. But, just like Avatar, it blew you away with the terrific presentation. Mass Effect 1 is a great example of this. Mass Effect 2 had something similar to the Dirty Dozen in its theme, which is refreshing although being the second in a trilogy is often a pivotal point in a series.
And Gabriel Knight had one of the best storylines in gaming IMO.
Like said before, BioWare games usually contain excellent story, although GTA series have great story, especially the Grand Theft Auto 4.
Grim Fandango, The Longest Journey, Legacy of Kain Defiance, Warcraft 3: TFT, Max Payne 2, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV, Mafia, Hellgate London (crappy game but really neat story), and many more that I can't begin to mention. The one that stands out the most too me, perhaps because it is the freshest in my memory, is Mass Effect 2. That suicide mission at the end made me so tense and nervous; I hadn't been that immersed in a game for years,
This is the main reason I play games so this list may be long:
Best: Planescape: Torment
Deus Ex
Half-Life 2 + Eps
Baldur's Gate Series
KOTOR 1 and 2
Dragon Age
Mass Effect 1+2
Stalker games
Neverwinter Nights 1 +2
Fallout 1, 2 and 3
GTA IV
Probably loads more, but that will do for now!
