S.T.A.L.K.E.R was amazing along with elder scrolls III and IV but if you mean games that are sp and mp then i don't know, i hardly play online anymore, but starcraft had a sweet sp and mp and gears of war also has some cool sp and amazing mp i heard.
So many good ones, so I'll just mention one of the games I am replaying: Deus Ex. I hardly ever play games more than once so that shows how full of goodness Deus Ex is.
I don't play many singleplayer RPG, and adventure games but I'm starting to, so I can't comment much on the singleplayer stuff. I really enjoyed No One Lives Forever, and Bioshock.
For multiplayer, definitely StarCraft for RTS, and CS 1.6 for FPS, because of all the custom maps that make the game fresh, both, almost 10 years after their releases.
