Patches sounds like a German website. Not sure I trust it's safety. Guess I'm gonna download Steam. Dumb question, IF I have steam. Can I mod those games?

Yes Steam games are exactly the same, just in a different directory...

Instead of it being in like C/Program Files/Game by default it will be C/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Game and you edit things from that directory exactly the same...

Steam would definitely be your best choice.

generally yes, but it isn't unheard of that a steam version of a game is more difficult to mod than a retail version. I would check before buying a game you want to use with mods.
