I was looking at this one do you guys think this is good?

http://www.amazon.com/LG-LHB336-Blu-ray-Theater-System/dp/B004MSP5Y2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1308694630&sr=8-1

I like it comes with a Blu-Ray player :)

Maybe you guys could find another one like that if this one isnt very good?

No. That is definitely not the best. Look at the ONKYO HT-S3400 at NewEgg for the best you can get for $300. Blu Ray's are less than $100 and the difference in quality is immense.

I would much rather go for a Klipsch / Onkyo solution...

Both 300 bucks.

If you haven't had surround sound before, anything will be an upgrade from TV speakers. If you do want to get the best bang for your buck though the Onkyo all in one system is probably one of the best you can find. You have much better connectivity than a standard HTiB with the multiple HDMI inputs and HD audio, as well as better speakers and sub than you would normally get. In other words, it's still not top of the line, but it is a good place to start and you can build off of it later if you wish

I would avoid all of these 'home cinema in a box' setups, they all tend to be a very 'jack of all trades, master of none' approach to surround sound. For the cost of alot of these systems u can buy a midrange receiver and a set of standmount stereo speakers and use that until u can afford to add the rest of the speakers and sub.

It may only be a 2 channel setup in the mean time but the difference in sound quality will be hugely apparent and if u do got he seperate receiver route u will be more covered for future upgrades and connecting extra devices.

If your serious about sound quality then a seperate amp and speakers is the only sensible way to go.

But at least they sound better than glorified tv speakers divided into 5 pieces :)

You could check out bose, bose has always helped me with everything and most of their speaker bars and wired speakers are below or very close to $300

I have a logitech z5500 sitting in my closet if you want to buy it. :P

Shipping would be horrendous though because of the subwoofer.

Damn thing shakes the walls of the house.
