"Chaaaaaarge!"

In one final desperate move, the Hastatii defending Alesia from the Gallic hordes descnded from their hilltop fortification, slamming into the warlord's cavalry. Behind them, a struggling band of Roman Cavalry fought off three times their number in babarian horsemen. Arrow shafts clouded the dark skies, plucking men from saddles with screams of pain. It was then that the cries of hope began to ring: The barbarian leader had fallen.

The enemy began to retreat in their hundreds, the cavalry sweeping across their flanks, cutting dozens down as they went. The Hastatii cheered with all their might, they had beaten the unbeatable, they had won.

Roman army: 580

Gallic Army: 3543

Roman casualties: 447

Gallic Casualties: 3421

I almost cried with happiness in the light of my monitor on that day. After ten turns of seige, and a battle that lasted the better part of an hour, I had won a battle against all odds.

What are your proudest moments from Shogun, Medieval, Rome and Medieval 2?

You dont have to provide a story ;).

That battle sounded EPIC. I don't really have many since I've been playing Rome for like a week but I do remember once I took a cavalry unit with a general and we took out an entire unit of enemy infantry just by charging them and running them over.

I was doing custom battle, and my French Army fought of a Venetian army, and was then bsaically decimated by a Spanish army, culminating with a group of Chilaric Knights and Peasents taking out the Spainish Genral's Bodyguard and winning the day!

in rome total war. its a story of skill...and luck. mainly luck...lots of luck :P.

its me....with a force of about 200 (a unit of infantry and 1 of horse..+ a couple of trebuchets). im up against a foce of about 1200-1500 egyptians..full variety of soldiers and lots of those dam charriots (i hate enemy charriots). its late in the game and i am the superpower in it by this stage so defeat wouldnt be a huge deal but anywho.

im badly outnumbered so i decide to try and fight the battle myself to see how many i can take down before my army meets mars in the after life. i wasnt going to win after all..i just thougt the egyptians would charge at me and that would be that.

so i find a hill on the battle field..perch my meagre force up there, set the trebs to fire fireballs and wait for the inevitable. a couple of charriot units charge and i land a few hits. they back off (there not in retreat mode though...the flag isnt flashing white). then a couple of more charriots come up on another side of the hill. i fire...land a few hits and they fall back again. then a bigger force of charriots comes up and attacks my horses. i thought " well now the slaughter begins" and told my trebs to fire at the engaging enemy..endangering my own troops in the process. amazingly i took very few casualties and inflicted alot on them. they fell back. this was happening on and off for a while, probing different parts of the hill to see if they could get through and my fighters were taking a bit of a beating. then the AI took a bit of a breather for a bit for some reason so i decided tolet my trebs to take a few pot shots at the ppl at the bootm of the hill. i landeed a good few blows (especially on spearmen) and the enemy casualties started mounting up. then the egyptians had a few more goes at me....and i inflicted more casualties and finally...for some reason (im guessing that the AI thought that continuing to engage me would lead to a pyrric victory and wasnt worth the hassle) they all retreated. flags went white and they all ran.

my exceptional tactics had me win the day....ah who am i kidding it was all luck :P. epic though.

I wouldn't be able to explain mine in that much detail. Mine was while I was playing the demo before I had bought The Barbarain Invasion, I believe. There was a river seperating my army from two armies, one of which had my ally surrounded and I had to reach him within a limited amount of time. I first got my catapults to attack on the enemies ranks as the slowly approached the river. Once I had made them pause for a moment, I then got my archer to attack their ranks and sent my cavalary in to make quick attacks this then made them lose some of their groups as they ran in terror. The rest of their men broke into sprinting against my infantary, where they surrounded by my infantary, cavalary and archers. I had managed to beat them without to many casulaties. I then made my way to the other army that was attacking my ally and by this time had diverted some of their army to go after me, I my army made small work of them. I then had a small limited amount of time left and so began to send my whole army into a sprint charge against the enemy, except for archers and catapults. The battles was over within minutes and upon later inspection of the battle, I realised I hadn't even lost 100 men compared to my enemy who lost well over 2,000. I would like to point out this was a historical battle so I couldn't choose my army.

I had conquered pretty much everything except a few islands and Rome. The Papal States had like 100 men, (the pope and some spearmen). I had around 4000 (mostly standard venetian spearmen and some crossbowmen) I broke through their ranks quite easily and killed their infantry, so it was still around 4000 vs. 20 +pope. My men killed their bodyguard with a k-d ratio of about 1-3, not too bad considering it was the faction leaders units. I had the pope left, wth thousands of men against him. He slew well over a hundred of my best men before I killed him. Every swing he took, people died. It was totally epic, and I found myself rooting for the Pope. I wish I had the recording of that.

My favorite one was beating a Gallic Army (huge army must've been around 1000) with 2 units of Town Guard  Basiclly they rammed down my gates and charged into the city with their Faction Leader who was then speared to death...the whole army retreated it was the best fight ever. Then in BI I used 5 units (combinaition of General,Heavy Inf,Light Inf, Archers and Cav) to stop 3 armies of Huns from taking Byzantium that was sweet because I won the round with 1 person left (he like personally speared the last 50 people double silver bar expierence ftw). In Medieval 2 I took 3 units of archers (Longbowmen) and defeneded a bridge using the spikes and them that was hilarious they couldn't get off the bridge.
