thats a very open ended question as we all have our different opinion on whats acceptable resolution with gaming. If you want state of the art rig be prepared to spend over 1500 bucks or more. You can save quite a bit of money if you piece together your own componants and build a system up from scratch. Its all up to you, depending on your knowhow and skills of course. Those that arent computer savvy end up usually paying tons more for the same like system performance of a custom built rig.

Yeah. I've done something similar. I'll look to see what custom shops are advertising, as far as super-builds go...you know, see what components they're using in their builds. Then just go to Newegg or Tigerdirect and buy the individual parts and build your own super gaming computer. You're still going to end up dropping a significant amount of money, but you will also save a considerable amount by building your own pc.

for video card, which is the most important component I say get a single powerful card such as GTX285 or ATI 4890. The i7920 setup is probably the best currently. The new cards will be out soon and this is why I say get only one card, plus Crossfire or SLI may be vunerable to microstutter.
