Okay so I just got this acer P205H monitor which is much nicer than my old hp monitor but the only draw back is it has a bad glare problem like when i am gaming its fine but if the screen is dark or it goes black I can see my reflection. So whats the best way be prevent this besides buying a new monitor because thats not going to happen anytime soon.

The problem is that it has a glass screen that is highly reflective. You will be better off with a matte screen.

its a glass screen, so glare will be a problem. maybe you can try to move your monitor to a different area so glare wont be much of a problem. me personally i dont like glare, but i do like glass screens better than matte screens.

There's not much you can do about the glare except trying to darken the room you are in. Also you should avoid having a light source positioned opposite of the monitor. I don't really get it why the industry is all about glare/glass monitors/TVs. Even if the picture is a bit more vivid, the drawbacks are far greater than the benefits for me.

Glossy screens are cheaper and less desirable. Should have spent a little more for a matte screen, you'd be sacrificing no picture quality too.

Glossy screens actually improve blacks and contrast ratios on lcd tvs. There is a reason matte cost more, it because they aren't as popular as gloss screens so they just don't really make them anymore. I've had a few matte lcds but my newer glossy c8000 blows them away in PQ in every way except glare, and I've got curtains for that.

It's funny that the one real benefit LCD's have over plasma is the matte screens, but the glossy screens enhance perceived contrast so they are becoming more prevalent at the cost of glare. Gloss screens actually cost the manufacturer more as usually it is an additional panel on top of the matte LCD screen. It used to be called a protective panel on rear projection sets.
