bethseda has made some interesting claims about the upcoming elder scrolls V skyrim. namely that it borrows mroe pages.. alot mroe pages from morrowind rather than oblivion. its wierdness and tone and even some of the gameply will be derived from it.. there is in fact veyr little that will be taken from oblivion beyond what NOT to do with the game.

Great news for me. Loved Morrowind. No offense to anyone, but I didn't like Oblivion. It wasn't terrible. Just not my thing.

This is great news. Oblivion was great but Morrowind had a better feel to it.

But in all seriousness, they had not said much or explained what exactly will be like morrowind.

 I don't think so. They'll say anything to sell more copies. Just look at Oblivion - half the stuff they promised didn't even end up in the game.

Good to hear, though knowing Bethesda, you should always take everything they promise with a grain of salt. They'll deliver on a lot of things - just not everything. That's where mods come in.

Glad to see this. Oblivion was pretty, but the vast majority of it was generic forest. Pretty forests, but it never looked varied enough. Morrownd looked almost like an entirely different planet, one you could get lost in and feel alien in.

Good news. I'm looking forward to it a little bit more now. Let's just hope they actually deliver on it.

Even Bethesda admits Morrowind was so much better :P Anyway Skyrim is looking pretty good, but the main reason I'm buying is that they're releasing mod tools.

All of the footage they have shown doesn't look too much different than Oblivion, is that just a small part or is it throwaway material now?

Meh, Im marginally interested in this game... Though this is prolly the best way to feel about games coming out these days..

If you get too excited, the game usually doesn't live up to the expectations..

If you just know that it is coming and don't care too much more than that..... When it comes, what kind of score it got, how well it is received.. A lot of times the game isn't disappointing, because not many expecations have been set....

I liked Morrowind and Oblivion... I hope this game is great.. But I don't expect it to be awe inspiring..

I will just wait and see, that way I can accurately judge the game in itself... instead of judging based upon my expectations before I even get the game...

We'll see. I liked Morrowind a LOT more than Oblivion myself, but I want to see some gameplay videos first.

I enjoyed oblivion more than morrowind, outside of the whole enemies and loot leveling up with you thing.

If they can find a nice in-between, I'd be all for it.

Apart from fancy graphics Oblivion had nothing going for it ,played it trough once then put it away as there was nothing to hold my attention,Morrowind on other hand i could play over and over just to explore it once again and be surprised by something i missed before .Friend of mine described Oblivion in such way that it made it simply boring to me "Once you see one ruin and close one gate ,you done all that you need to do"

I used to think Morrowind looked more unique, but then I played the Shivlering Isles and remembered everything looked kinda stupid in Morrowind.

If the Skyrim characters walk like Morrowind's, forget it.:P:lol:

If you think poor animation is a thing of the past, look at Alpha Protocol's stealth.

Bet it'll have horrible combat, again. :D Inconsistancy

of all the lessons to be learned, I hope this is the one they take to heart the most.

I never played Morrowind, but I enjoyed Oblivion well enough. I hated the combat, though, could have been done so much better.

As long as they don't have the stupid "Swing sword at enemy and it miss even though it hits" combat, I'll love it. I loved Morrowind, but the combat got so annoying.

Hold on a sec, St. Jiub drove them from Vvardenfall. They didn't migrate to Cyrodill, which leaves them one place to go.

Also beat morrowind's combat, you attack, attack, attack, attack, attack, with a damn sword and hear a terrible swinging sound and half of the attacks miss. What the hell? Where the do hey go? I know its an rpg but seriously what the hell?

Well, hopefully some aspects of the game will be more like Morrowind (skills, main story, unique environments), but I recall there were just as many 'Fed-Ex' quests in that game as Oblivion, and the animation and combat obviously left a lot to be desired. Oblivion did improve on Morrowind in some ways, with better combat, better animation, all spoken dialogue (which for me is just more immersive), some quirky and interesting side quests, and my only real issues out of the box were the auto-leveling, the loss of some skills, and the Radiant AI not being as good as they initially portrayed. The main quest obviously could have been much better as well.

I hope Skyrim includes the good aspects of both Morrowind AND Oblivion, while encompassing some of the lessons Bethesda learned making Fallout 3. More than anything, though, I hope Bethesda have managed to see some of the improvements made to their games by mods over the years. Oblivion was much better with things like Oscuro's mod, for example - and they should encompass some of those things into Skyrim.

Nah, this is probably just PR talk. Since Oblivion sold better than Morrowind I highly doubt Zenimax would allow Bethesda to focus on what made Morrowind good, rather than on what made Oblivion sell like a billion copies. Bottom line is don't believe anyone working on the game until you've played it yourself.
