Yeah, the game looks really outstanding. I'm not sure it's really fair to compare it to Crysis, though, but it is one of the best racing games out to date graphics-wise.

The game looks fantastic and is fun to.. but its graphics are not anywhere near as good as Crysis or even Metro.

that Crysis sunset is awwwwwwesome! is that DX10? and is your game modded? when i played the demo it didnt look that good.

Dirt 2 looks great, but Metro and modded Crysis still look far better than anything else.

Those graphics really aren't that impressive. Looks like most other good-looking games recently released. Even Just Cause 2, for example, is a better looking game. Dirt 2 is nothing more than a static world, too, with fancy backdrops. I'm not impressed.

who gives a crap about graphics. It's all about the gameplay.

i love Dirt2 and is visually beautiful but i dont think its on par with Crysis...

The graphics for Crysis were mediocre and uninspiring.... I think you're the only one that thinks so buddy. This isn't a thread about gameplay, this is a thread about graphics (Look at the title).

well it is not just that, either.

Dirt 2 is a great looking game, I wont deny it, and in terms of texture detail and optimization it sure looks as good as Crysis, and likely runs better two.

But there is a whole lot more to a game than just that. I wonder how detailed the people are in Dirt 2...do the faces of the fans and drivers have as many polygons/detail as Crysis has. If a car exploded in Dirt 2, would the explosion and resulting fire and smoke look as rich and lifelike as Crysis'?

In short, while Dirt 2 looks great, the game and genre demands fewer things than an FPS does, which means it can afford to look really good in five areas whereas Crysis needs to look good in about 20 areas.

I disagree. I cranked the graphics to max and looked out over the ocean and was surprised at the quality. But if you want REALLY colorful and inspired graphics, look for something like Torchlight, or something of that caliber. After all, the visuals in Crysis are supposed to be reminiscent of real life, not much inspiration can be made there. Needless to say, your point is moot/void/whathaveyou.

Though I think I just fed a troll. :S

I agree Crysis does have to look better up close, but wouldn't you say that the map sizes for dirt 2 are larger? Idk I could be wrong. I do not know how racing games level designs are vuilt, but those levels are quite large.

Some seriously idiotic things have been said in the past in regards to Crysis itself, but I think this one takes the cake. Funny how you say the visuals are uninspiring, yet so many developers have clearly tried to replicate the jungles found in Crysis in their own games. I can name at least a handful off the top of my head. Or maybe you just don't know what the term "uninspiring" actually means, and were just saying it because it's one of the most overused words out there.
