Between $80 to $120, what are the best headphones? I found these, but i'm not sure these are the best:

You should try to find a shop to sample some. What sounds awesome to one person can sound like ass to another. Charts like the one posted above certainly help. Also depends on what you'll be listening to and what you'll be plugging into.

I will probably listen to stuff on my ipod nano, and watching TV shows on hulu and crunchyroll, including japanese anime.

That's what I meant, they have a rather huge following.

EDIT: I was looking at the reviews on amazon (1100 people and a 4.5 star average shows they're great), I looked at some 1 star reviews out of curiousity, look at the hidden comment from the dizzle :lol:

That graph is a plot of frequency against volume. In this case, it shows that the treble on the Sony's drops off very soon after 10khz, which means the M50s will provide more accurate highs and sound 'clearer'. The M50 also has more accurate bass, but it could be a tad much depending on what you're looking for. Chances are you can control it a bit with EQ if you need.

I'm afraid that the only way to know for sure that they're 'for you' is to listen to them. Having not heard the Sony's (and only having heard the Audio Technicas briefly) there's only so much information I can give you.

Some say the M50's, are "too bassy" not sure since I've never tried them personally(will probably be the next pair I buy). I have the KNS8400 and they're more "neutral" in the bass department but not lacking, but they need to be broken in for a bit(like many others).

There is one question that must be asked. What do YOU want out of a headphone? When it comes to using headphones in public places I'd recommend something that isolates the world from you, and you from the world. Some people are not into having onii-chans wafting through the air. Another thing I'd consider is long term comfort. It's pointless if they make you scream in agony after 20 minutes. (Librarians will shush with extremem prejudice as well.)

Keep in mind that the charts only tell you so much. As do the reviews. You must know what you want. I'm no bass head, so the ATH-AD700s might have a perfect amount of bass for me. Point is. Know what you want.

My advice? I've heard excellent things about superlux. If I remember their designs are based on older AKG headphones which are held in high regard. That would be my choice. Grados are very bright headphones and a very narrow soundstage. I do NOT recommend those or the ATH-AD700s for the library. They have zero isolation. The Monoprice and Panasonics are just decent cheap choices. Koss has a lifetime warranty, so that's pretty cool. I've heard conflicting reviews on the Sonys. Some say neutral, others say bright.

Go do some research on other forums as well.

EDIT: One more thing. The Audio Technia M50s are immensely popular headphones. Beware. They have received substantial hype. A decent base on which to build, but just be aware there are other choices.

I have these and love em. They are coiled wires so it is portable. Hfi 580 for straight wire.

Depends what type of music you listen to. I always go for bass heavy headphones for the PC because they make most video games sound better. I use Sony MDr v-55.

I must disagree with you quite strongly here. The Grado SR-60/80i headphones are fantastic open cans for rock and metal. The Koss Porta Pro are legendary in the world of head-fi. Hell... The ATH-M50s are some of the most over-hyped headphones that have ever come out. I'd recommend looking through a few other threads on head-fi. There is no need to dismiss a series of headphones as "shit."
