BF2142, Punkbuster, and Vista Home Premium...

not a good combination...

but if anyone is running this combination and isn't crashing every 6 seconds, plz tell me what you did cuz i don't feel like wasting my $30 i spent on this game...

hell, yea. they really need to get on this problem and fix it. i hate to get into a game and play like 10 min b4 getting kicked.

There is currently no fix. The people who are not having problems just have the right component combination. I know what I just said sounds over simplified and made up but it is unfortunately true. Sometimes it is a punkbuster issue but if you have tried the well publicized PB fixes and they dont work, you are scewed.

The one thing you can do is find someone who is really really good with computers. You never ever ever ever want to do what I am about to suggest without knowing exactly what to do. Also, there is a small chance that it may not work; simply for component issues. You can set up your computer for dual boot. There really is no risk in doing it; it just takes a lot of time to do and if it doesnt work some more time to reverse. It just all depends how desperate you are. I know this answer was vague and contained no certainty but such is life.

Also, you could always just play BF2, I went back to it after a good amount of time spent on BF2142.

BF2 works? I bought that too, but was soo pissed with the BF2142 situation that i haven't even tried it...

Oh well, it was $40 for both of them...

Right click on the shorcut and make the adminastrator is running has full controll of the game not your profile and it should work atleast it worked for my friend with BF2..frizzyman0292

Yea, to get BF2 or BF2142 to work right I just run it in administrator mode, no problems really running it on Vista. The only problems I have had so far is with is ARMA and Test Drive Unlimited, but I pretty much have a feeling its just those games are just horriblydeveloped for any OS.

I pretty much have to do the same thing on mykids XP machine in his room because I do not feel he needs admin rights on it.

Vista was actually meant to play games with directX10 not directX9 and besides to run vista u need to at least have good memory(3gb)

2 gigs is more than enough and DX9 stuff will work fine.1 gig isgoodbut you can simply add a USB stick for extra memory.

Go to the punkbuster website and update the client. That will solve the problem. I have never ran anythign with admin right so that is not the problem. I never got kicked after updating the client http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.phpDeihmos
