BF4 beta news!!! And now launch modes and number of maps confirmed!

"Today at EA's Gamescom 2013 press conference, DICE officially confirmed that the Battlefield 4 beta will begin in October.

The Battlefield 4 Beta was announced way back in 2012. Beta access was granted with the purchase of Medal of Honor Warfighter, with more ways of getting in promised. As of now specific beta details have not yet been revealed.

Battlefield 4's launch date has previously been pegged for October 29, seeming to make this a very short multiplayer beta - almost acting more as a sneak peek or early access period."

attlefield developer DICE has confirmed the game modes that will ship with Battlefield 4 in November.

In a post on the official Battlefield blog, DICE confirmed that the shooter will launch with seven game modes, two of which are new to the series.

The modes include series regulars like Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination, while adding two new game modes.

The new modes include:

• Obliteration, where two teams face off on medium-sized battlegrounds where one bomb spawns in a random central location and the goal is to pick up the bomb and arm it at one of the enemys three military installations.
• Defuse, where players dont have any re-spawns at all for an even tighter and quicker infantry-only game mode.

DICE also confirmed the game will launch with ten multiplayer maps, and all game modes will be playable on all of them.

Battlefield 4 will be available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC October 29 in North America and November 1 in Europe. PS4 and Xbox One will launch when the consoles drop.

yeah seems more like they want to test the hardware backend or something, rather than beta testing the game itself.

When they say "beta" they just mean soft launch to make sure their shit works for launch. No real betaing is happening.

Yeah it's not really a beta at all really, would be surprised if it lasts 2 weeks even.

Used to be that testers would get paid for quality assurance or do it voluntarily. Now testers at the beta or even alpha stages pay to test.

I'm pretty sure a AAA budgeted game like BF4 is not going to be in alpha or beta 3 weeks before launch. They call it a beta, but it's really the final stages of QA where they need to test the final product's back end so it runs smooth on launch.

They've been internally testing it for over a year now.

beta is from oct 1st to oct 15. So two weeks. I expect that they might give us paracel storm in the last few days of the beta. nutcrackr

Yes, I bought the BF3 premium edition. It's probably because I'm from Europe, but I hope they'll let us player longer then too.
