Does bfbc2 run better on the XP OS than Vista or Win 7? Since everywhere i've looked that's been the case. I know XP only has DX9 but it still runs better when dx9 is forced on vista or 7. Is this true? if so could there be any way for vista or 7 users to run the game (on dx9) as good as xp?

Yeah, it does. I used to run BFBC2 on fully maxed settings @ 60fps, never dropping below 40 (and my computer is hardly a beast). Since my switch to Windows 7, I have had to change some settings and play with them until I could get it to that level of performance. Despite the tweaks, the game still looks better than the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions, meaning it still looks very good.

If you go into My Documents on Windows 7, there's a folder called BFBC2 where your settings are kept. Open your "settings.ini" file, back up its contents in a word or txt document. I'll paste my settings here that let me run the game and you could try them. I'm sure you know this already, but there are lots of other settings here you can play with that aren't in the game's normal options screen.

Sidenote: I was reading on a forum that for some odd reason, Windows 7 and BFBC2 soundquality/bloom/dxversion/antialiasing/anisotropicfiltering are factors that can hugely affect performance for somer reason. Therefore, you'll notice in my settings that they are cranked down a little bit. On XP, these were maxed out. Again, play with these settings to find out what works best, but make sure to close the game each time, because the changes made to the settings.ini file do not take place until the game has been restarted.

at vetnor, maybe to much ram for xp? it cant take to much lol. At the first post, thx, it really helped, though what are your specs? Since i cant run the game lowest settings, thx to the ini thing i got 20 more frames xD, at a smooth 60 constant even at lowest settings. 2.8 c2d stock e7400, 5750 1 gig, vista 64, 3 gigs of ram, how much better is your system compared to mine?

Adam, other than the normal settings visible in game, what did that change? I made the update and now I'm able to play with full settings (1x AA) at a constant 40FPS.

This depends on your hardware. If your pc sucks. Then the game will lag. But my BC2 never lags. Ever. I just dont play it cause its terrible. You have to modify CFG files just to get the the lag compensation at a playable rate.
