I had a level 30+ on the Xbox 360 so I'm not a complete noob. Yet when I play on PC I get owned so hard. In CoD(just for comparisons sake) I had a K/D ratio of 2+.

Now I KNOW k/d isnt important in BFBC2 trust me, I'm the first one running toward the MCOMs to disarm, I am just using it as a measure. I am currently at around a .25 k/d ratio in BFBC2. This is my first PC FPS that I'm trying to get into. I have been playing Halo, CoD, and Battlefield modern combat on consoles for years. Is PC gamers this aggressive? It just feels hopeless.

So yea. Any tips you can give me to get better in BFBC2?

you've just got to get used to the mouse controls and things imo. playing on consoles is vastly different to playing on PC's, people can aim so much faster

Your reactions will have become flabby and slow from console auto-aim. PC gamers have the reactions of fighter pilots and the bodies of John Candy. Try catching flies with chopsticks to improve your coordination.

You're a console FPS player who has never played Counter Strike on the PC?

Of course you're gonna be way way way worse than everyone else. FPS on a console is a kindergarten

Oh yeah, I havn't played on a console in years but when I've seen console videos/montages on youtube it just makes me go wow...I'd have died a thousand times over if I moved that slow or tried any of that lol

So yeah just practice with the mouse/kb you'll get it ;)

No I have never played CS on the PC. Lets see... closest thing I got to CS was playing Halo 2 online on original XBOX for like 3 years lol.

Just practise. You really need to know your mouse perfectly; it must go where your eyes want it to go. There's a reason gamers care so much about having a mouse that suits them well.

But yeh, besides practising, knowing the maps in FPS games is vital but that shouldn't be a problem for you since you've played Battlefield on the console already.

There is no auto aim. You need to keep practicing and really understand the nature of the guns.

Takes a lot of practice to get into BC2 on PC. Most guys there can shoot a lot better than the console versions which I learned the hardest way. PC is just a different beast. Even if I play a new game for a week and then go back to BC2 I get slaughtered. Its an addictive kind of frustration

indeed once the hands and eyes are adjusted to a pc you can really find your rythmn and facerool some people. this isnt to say its any easier to slay people but it certainly take the sense of defenselessness away.

i used to suck really hard now i end tf2 rounds in the top 8 or so. (assuming its a 32-player match)

Its odd now that you mention it. Im pretty good at TF2, Ive never played that until i got the orange box with my new PC around January. Putting that into light frustrates me even more! Im getting owned in BFBC2 which I've played a solid 2 years(give or take), yet I'm good at TF2 which I've been playing for 5 months(give or take again) inb4 apples and oranges.

I recognise this haha. I used to play BFBC2 on the PS3 and decided later when I had upgraded my PC that I wanted to try out BFBC2 on the PC. What a difference. On the PS3 I could easily remain a steady score-per-min/win-loss/KD ratio but when I started playing on the PC I got slaughtered like no tomorrow. And I'm a PC gamer by heart, so to speak. I guess it just really, REALLY makes a difference if every player can react as fast as they want. Feels like a different more gritty game like that hehe

Try finding a Rank 25 and Under server. That should even things up a bit.

With a mouse, it's quick and easy to scan left/right for enemies. On console, you either took it slow or ran like hell and hoped someone walked into your FoV. Movement and quick thinking are fairly important in BFBC2. When you see an enemy, you immediately have to judge the situation and whether or not you can engage. If you go shooting at every enemy in sight, you'll get yourself killed fairly quickly. You're bound to attract the attention of 1 of the 32 players in BFBC2 should you go on a shooting spree. If you do start taking fire, you need to find your way to cover. Rarely are you supposed to engage someone who gets the first shot. I only do that when I don't have enough time to run away. If you can run away, you can usually suprise them as they come around the corner chasing you. With the mouse, it's very easy to change directions quickly, which can throw off people shooting at you.

When it comes to fire control, tap firing works for 99.99% of the weapons in BFBC2. If you're holding down the trigger hoping it hit someone, you're doing it wrong. Targets need to be led a little and don't go shooting at someone you don't think you can kill unless you're trying to cover a friendly. The obvious example would be to avoid trying to take on snipers at long range with an smg, unless you know their scope isn't pointing at you.

The best advice yet is to just stay with your team. They'll spot and distract enemies, but they'll also cover you while you heal if you run behind/near them. Flanking can get you a lot of kills, but it can also get you killed if you're not quick.

The only major differences between console and PC versions is that it takes significantly more to kill someone and the movement on console is much more restrictive (harder to turn). So basically, your targets are more hearty and more agile.

You just have to keep in mind that on consoles, aiming your reticle at what you want to shoot takes several hundred miliseconds, whereas on PC, it's effectively instantaneous. Another thing, on BFBC2 especially, there are a lot of cheap tactics and ways to get cheap kills, don't be ashamed to get vehicle kills and blow people up with explosives, it's actually quite fun. Another thing, a lot of people are campers/recon class so I suggest killing them while they camp(a lot of times you can get easy multikills like this) and try sticking to the edges of the map rather than running in front and center.

It needs a bit of practice , i bought the game just a few weeks ago and just like you i started with a really low K/D ratio , not that care about it , i mainly care about objectives . to improve you have to look up noob servers , there are lots of them for ranks lower than 25 and they are good for practice . Also , try all classes and see which one you're comfortable with the most and same goes for guns , after that stick to the gun you find effective/easy to handle . I've improved my K/D ratio by a lot , starting at 0.3 now it's at 0.81 and I'm at level 17 .

This is the best advice so far. Especially the "tap shooting" single or burst shots are best. Always leading running targets. Know what your gun can and can't do. If you go full auto with a gun with small clips or high rates of fire you will run out of ammo and be left wide open. Always reload when you're safe too. Don't just relaod everywhere and anywhere be smart about it and also changing to your pistol to finish a guy or when you can't reload fast enough can save your ass

Like he said don't engage enemies who hit you first, at close range anyway, from distance you could get lucky. But he who shoots first wins most of the time. Choose the right scope to use too. I always use red dots because the ACOG sights bounce around too much when shooting. I have become pretty good at distance too with a red dot. If a guy shoots at you and you hide behind a corner drop a grenade at your feet so when he comes around it takes a chunk from his health and leave you with less shots to take him down.

Never ever stand still unless you know you're safe. When arming M-COM's or anything like that constantly strafe left and right to avoid unnecessary headshots from snipers. Or even when surveying areas always strafe back and forth because guys won't be able to hit you as cleanly and it gives you time to run away before the bullets actually kill you.

Spot all the time too. It garners extra points, especially when attacking m-com's. Hit Q (whatever button you have assigned) all the time on things. All those little extra points add up and put you higher on the scoreboard.

And stay near medics :P especially the ones who actually revive people

I've just started BFBC2 on PC lately too (I guess you got the $5 deal on Origin too :P). Anyway, when I tried playing it like CoD (sprint, shoot, sprint some more) I would get tossed every time. However, if you make coordinated movement with teammates or find a good spot to camp (yes, camping is pretty much required for BF) then you'll probably see your K/D increase, at least it did for me.

But like others have mentioned, mouse and keyboard allows much quicker aiming than console controllers and if you've never really used the m/kb combo before, you're going to have a rough time until you do.

I just got Bad Company 2 thanks to EA Origin sale and I'm getting destroyed, at least in TF2 my kills could keep up with my deaths but in BC2 I need some lube for the rape I get.

From a gameplay perspective, learn the maps, learn the guns, learn bullet drop and lead time. And always try to cover your back.

When I started I was at around 0.25 KDR. I havent played for a while but I think my KDR is close to 2.0. Like I said a lot of it is knowing the maps and knowing where to be.

Play Conques Modet first then Rush Mode because in Conquest you can move around and kill anyone you see : ). Its best to choose a map with alot of houses so its not so easily to die.

Play on a server with "Pistol Only" is a good thing too because Pistol will be the last thing that help you kill your enemy when your main gun is out of ammo. Also get a mouse with alot of buttons and make each button a weapon, so you can change your weapon fast it will save your life.

Use short burst fire for rifles & killing opponents will be far easier. try to observe situation before running in towards objectives etc. also I hope you know about 3D spotting.

PC gamers are generally more aggressive, and the learning curve is much harder because of it - and the legacy of players. In a game like BC2 stick to support roles; run about as a medic perhaps, or even an engineer and try and keep your awareness about what's going on around you - a lot of the time its more about getting the drop on someone - or being quick enough to react to it - running away is a perfectly viable option.

BFBC2 is NOT CoD by a longshot. Don't think you can play BFBC2 like CoD or your K/D ratio will stay @ .25. PC gamers are more analytical thinkers in general than console gamers and BFBC2 is a thinking man's action game, so know that.

The same thing happened to me when I switched from console to PC. I almost wanted to not play BC2 on PC because I got my arse handed to me. It takes a lot of adjusting, and once you get a feel for a mouse+keyboard, you'll find it's superior to using a controller. I can't play shooters with a controller anymore it feels way too limiting. But that's just me.

If you follow all these things you should do good. If not then its down to just not enough practice yet. Biggest rule is to use your head and your team

i recently changed from console to pc was level 30+ on console about 18 on pc now i didnt find the transistion that hard to be honest after about two hours my k/d was about 1.25 which im more than happy with as i play the objective. i will say this my aim over distance with assualt rifles and lmgs is terrible compared to console as is my helicopter flying but yeah stick with it you just have to get used to kb/m although i need a new mouse as my current one is terrible.

@seanmcloughlin thanks watched both videos, NOW i am gonna kick some ass !!!poovannaorcbane

Also other things I want to add.

I can't stress how important other guys kits are when you kill them. If you nail a medic, steal his kit briefly to heal you and your team mates and also revive if needs be. Its extremely valuable and useful. But be warned about reviving a medic with his own kit because he will end up with your kit and you're stuck with the medic loadout then Or take an assault for more ammo, engineer for an AT weapon to dispatch tanks wandering around or a recon for a motion sensor and a mortar strike. Then go back into whatever kit you already had. This will make your score soar and really develop an understanding of the teamplay ESSENTIAL for BC2 and all BF games.

Next is grenades. They are not just for killing guys, while useful, they can also be used to flush guys out of areas. They will either be killed by the grendae or leg it and meet you standing there ready to inflict sweet pain. In the lucky situation you can damage them from the grenade along with their buddies and then sweep bullets across all of them to get a really good kill count. If you are wary about going into a room/building lob a grenade in and hear if anyone shouts "Grenaaaddee" or any other variation. This will indicate people (at least 1) inside that you have to dispatch.

These little things that we mention don't sound like much but they really do add up and give you a lot of points or kills.I just finished a round of Squad deathmatch and it was a score of 115 to reach and following these tips and tricks I got 58 kills and got the Ace Pin in the round.

But as with all games there is a big element of luck in it too.

i recently changed from console to pc was level 30+ on console about 18 on pc now i didnt find the transistion that hard to be honest after about two hours my k/d was about 1.25 which im more than happy with as i play the objective. i will say this my aim over distance with assualt rifles and lmgs is terrible compared to console as is my helicopter flying but yeah stick with it you just have to get used to kb/m although i need a new mouse as my current one is terrible.

TOMMEY707

I couldn't agree more. I had a crappy 800dpi mouse before and I was awful at BC2 now I have a 400-3200dpi mouse and its SO much easier to play

There is no auto aim. You need to keep practicing and really understand the nature of the guns.

Wasdie

This. There is auto aim and aim assist in console shooters. It will take you a while to adjust to using the mouse and keyboard, then it will take you a while to get really good at it. In BFBC2 though, you are correct. K/D is no biggie as long as you play the objective. My k/d in BFBC2 is around 2.4 and I play the objective a lot... a whole lot. That is, in my opinion, kind of rare. Most of my friends and fellow clan buddies have an average k/d of 1.4 which again, is not bad. So keep at it and I hope you enjoy PC gaming.

I always find that I play best when I'm the most "amp'ed" of moods. A beer or two or an energy drink will do it. I've always learned that you need to always check your surroundings as anyone can creep on you (aka stragglers, etc). I'm best as engineer, with UMP 45, also using pistol constantly instead of reloading, then reload when it's safe. At the end of the day, it takes practice and you need to find out which loadout you like best. I was getting murdered when I started, but now I've managed to do a lot better. I'd also like to point out that you will play tremendously better when you're in a great squad. When you're playing with random people, it's rare that you'll click with a squad. But when you do, it's game on. I was just playing BC2 a few minutes ago and I got my first double platinum stars. It was a killer round and our team played very well.

A playstyle Ive adopted in the past few days is not worrying about killing at all. Lately I've been having a .10-.30 k/d ratio and still in the top half of the scoreboard cause i support like a beast.

Im assault? Drop ammo boxes everywhere, if im attacking i drown the mcoms in smoke and spam gernades from behind cover.

Engineer? I mostly use on vehicle heavy maps, i team up and keep tanks at full health or tracer dart enemy vehicles and blow them up.

If im medic, its obvious i heal everyone with improved specializations to med kits, and revive like a boss.

If im recon i stay far back and spam motion mines, spot everything that moves, and mortar mcoms.

Its just my playstyle atm. I have to adopt and play this way because i lose 9/10 firefights, and cant pilot anything if my life depended on it.(and i will crash and take all my teammates lives with mine xD)

Its exactly how you should be playing. Your team will appreciate it a lot. Its not about the individual its about the team.it will get you in the proper mindset to play. Then you will gradually get better at taking on guys while keeping your teamplay mentality

I really don't think he cares about his team, although he should, he's trying to improve his K/D ratio. First thing: GO HARDCORE, Discover the weapons you're best with, don't run so much (it'll be harder to come up with sights that way), use your parachute, run away from tanks, don't be afraid to hip fire when you're near an enemy, ALWAYS, ALWAYS try to flank , use magnum bullets, they make a huge difference, crouch when you're under fire so you can get cover, it can save you. If you're in the middle of a battle and your clip is gone, switch to your pistol, use stationary AT against vehicles, most people don't use them and it can get you some nice kills, don't be afraid to use your missile launcher or grenade launcher against enemies who are behind walls, it ain't a noob tactic, and REMEMBER, if you're not getting kills or your team is just plain useless, don't hammer it, switch servers.

I am surprise that most people refuse to believe there's cheater in PC version of BFBC2. I see them all the time, they get banned but they'll just come back the next day.

Very good points. The parachute will save yo' ass a LOT. And I always hip fire closer to enemies. Squeezes out vital seconds.

Also find out good key mapping. If ctrl is too much of a hassle for crouch then use left alt. Assign extra mouse buttons if you have them for like reloading or grenade throwing if you think it makes you faster. Or assign your kits and weapons to it instead of the numbers. And of course you can use AT weapons and 40mm's on enemies, most people say you're a noob and learn some skill etc. but hey you might as well use the weapons at your disposal. but I would become better with your machine gun and pistol as it improves your aim and reaction time

Of course there is. I played last night and 4 people got kicek because of cheating. You can spot them a mile away if you lay into them with bullets to no effect or they shoot you with bullets through walls.

Of couse there are cheater in any multiplay game but its more annoying to hear people complain about that everyone is a cheater if they got kill by other people...I mean not everyone is a cheater some of them is just good or lucky. Thats also one of the reason I hate Steam sale where alot of new players come to BC2 and then you'll hear Cheater, Aim Bot ect. everywhere.

I'm not sure how much your team will appreciate it, but it's definitely how you should be playing in a team mindset.

I really don't think he cares about his team, although he should, he's trying to improve his K/D ratio.

I do care about my team. The last section when I said "its just my play style atm i have to adopt" I wasnt referring to me doing team oriented things is out of the norm. I was mainly referring to me playing recon as a bush wookie, since I cant win many firefights I have to sit far back and spot.

I don't really care about k/d ratio as I said in my OP, im just using it as a unit of measure, something to go by. I will run in the middle of a battle no hesitation to arm a Mcom. Its just frustrating sometimes to go 1-17 or 3-23 all day. I'd like to improve :D
