The PSU had enough power to handle the card if both +12V rail combinated you got 30A, don't worry

400W is pushing it, especially for some no-name brand PSU. I would say minimum 450W, optimally, 500W.

Well I have read people playing this card on a 400Watt psu and even a 370watt but I am not sure I was just hoping that I wouldn't have to spend any extra money on a new psu.

The watts are not such important if it has enough A on +12V rail

Well the wattage and amperage ratings of your PSU are more than enough. What people mean by stability is that PSU may not be good quality and may die if it's pushed hard. It's your choice whether you want to run your not so cheap computer with an unreliable PSU.

And well you DONOT have to spend 200 dollars on a quality PSU.If you want to get a new PSU then just get the corsair VX450 watt. You can get it for around $80.

Your PSU will work fine. If you want to upgrade, consider a corsair vx450 for 80, an OCZ stealthxstream 600watt for 80-90, or a corsair hx520 for ~100 USD (I think).

I'm going through the same thing. I have a BFG 8800GT OC and when I tried to install it my system crashed because of a cheap 500W PSU without enough 12V amps across the rails. It caused my HDD to power down and my comp would lock. I got a deal on newegg for a Cool Master 650 for $80.00 after a $40.00 rebate. All will be installed tomorrow. I don't do my own I have a tech savy friend I pay to help.
