so after months of trying, i finally managed to get bioshock 2 working right (needed to delete some folder and create an offline gfwl profile cause the game always crashed and i had an infinite loop of game updating with an online gfwl account).

so i've got the game on max settings with v-synch forced on (the option in the game didnt want to work on its own so i had to use the nvidea control panel) and i noticed that the animations of, say, falling objects, or stuff you've smacked or smashed just dont look all that great. i mean, they work. the animations aren't too terrible, it just looks vaguely "choppy". i'm running the game at a solid 60 fps too.

im just wondering if the game is supposed to look "meh" like that, or whether there's a fix out there. perhpahs i just had to update the game, which i'm totally unable to do because of that stupid gfwl infinite update glitch (which from my understanding, almost everyone has with this game)

on a side note, i dont get why the hell steam just doesnt let us download the most recent version to begin with...

I enjoyed the game a lot but the physics animations and low res textures were really annoying.

I thought it was as well...game didn't support widescreen at release and I thought the visuals were far worse compared to the first game.

I liked BioShock 2 more than BioShock 1. Visually, they're basically the same...

No it wasn't. No glitches on my end, visuals have nothing to do with it being a port, even then it looks the **** same. Like I said,it wasn't a bad port. You want a bad port go play Saints Row 2.

IDK when visuals became a port thing. I'm pretty sure it isn't. Besides, it looks the same, if not better in places. Bad ports = Saints Row 2, SC: Conviction, and Double Agent.

Thanks for trolling instead of supporting your statement with something worth reading. I happened to like Bioshock 2 more than Bioshock 1. Is that so hard to believe? Imho, Bioshock 2 had better gameplay, and that was more important to me.

That explains it. Must have been the same on the original Bioshock too because I remember it having choppy physics.

+1

The mouse look was buggy as hell to boot. Shame because I found Bioshock 1 very immersive. This was def a backwards step. V.Much looking forward to the new game tho.

Dawn of War 2's physics are also locked at 30 fps. I think CoH's too.

I enjoyed the second far more as well. The gunplay was improved with better weapons, and while the story wasn't quite as good it was overall a great sequel.

ya the animations were subpar. i noticed that as well when i played it and i have that game maxxed. also whenever i went into the in-game map menu my mouse sensitivity would go extremely high to where its annoying navigating. i would have to decrease my mouse dpi on the fly since i have a g9x mouse which helped a little, but it was still an annoying hassle. i still liked the game overall, but yes i very much agree that it is a poor port especially when bioshock 1 was a much better port.

the only real glitch i experienceis when i use a gene bank, its like the screen blinks when i move the mouse while using a gene bank machine. its still perfectly usable. its just annoying and odd

googling the problem has shown that its a common problem with no real fix

IdK, I just know the first was a beautiful game, I loved it, very atmosphereic, and moody... (Nostalgia may be messing with people lol, the animations on the First Bioshock were not exactly all that fluid either, Though was a blast to play)

I am also looking forward to completeing the last 20% of it or so, Then I will move on to Bioshock 2 (which I am looking forward to playing, As well as Bioshock INfinite)
