In case you haven't seen this demo or the interview around it:

This game looks amazing. It's very refreshing to see such a blockbuster title throw some major innovations into the mix. The use of the skyline, world tears, and Elizabeth's improv actions will most likely make this one of my favorites when it comes out. The entire game still has the feel of Bioshock, but is also still very much different. I can't wait til this is out!

(sorry, the link option didn't work for some reason...)

It looks amazing, and I'm sure it'll play fine, but it's still a rail shooter that will have no replay value. That may not bother you, but I have a serious problem with paying 50-60 bucks for a game that I'll only ever really want to play through once.

I just have the urge to hug Elizabeth... she's not real though :/ (except if you consider that girl that looks exactly like her and cosplayed her)...

I'd have to agree with that. They completely scrapped the attempt at a dynamic gameplay from the first one for the cinematic appeal. It looks cool, but it does feel like the game is on rails.

Indeed, but it does look like the playing field is much larger. Rather than running around in an oppressed underwater facility, you can literally "fly" around in a huge area to get objectives done. The demo shows you attacking enemies on multiple buildings trying to get to the blimp that is reigning fire on you. It just seems much more open and the options really are there to play it several different ways. This has always been a staple of Bioshock, but it seems like they might have perfected it finally. Although I don't know how the tears will work, this looks like it will add another variable on how to play the game as well.

As far as replay value, I might agree with you there. When it's single player only I usually wait for it go down to about $30-40 which I think is more than enough return on ~10+ hours of gaming.

EDIT: Also, they explain the "on rails" feeling that some players are referring to. I think some people might just have been misguided by some of the previous gameplay/trailer footage. It doesn't seem to be any more scripted than most games out there these days. I guess we can only find out once it comes out...

I have to wonder... what kind of rig you'll require to play it? It looks incredible.

I've always thought the Bioshock games were optimized very well and still looked great. The open world may effect this one a bit, but I don't suspect the hardware requirements will go up much at all.

I'm fine with one play through if the game is good. I would rather have a great game with one play through then a mediocre game that allows replayability....
