i was wondering would a 8600 gt 256 mb play bioshock in close to high settings? ( the rest of the pc is 2gbs of ram and amd 4000+)

YES, if u see that system requirements it says that 8600GT will play Bioshock in high settings

If my AGP based system can run it on high at avg 60fps, I am sure your dual core one can.
