STALKER for me, less polished, but ultimately more satysfying and ambitious

Isn't this question more of taste than game quality? They're hardly alike....I prefer run and gun so of course I prefer Bioshock.

I'm gunna have to go with Bioshock on this one. STALKER was great fun, but the lack of damage from the weapons made it very unrealistic and annoying at times.

STALKER is a freaking paradox..realistic in some aspects and crazy-mad in others. I will say STALKER only cause i cant run Bioshock on this damned ATIX1550:lol:

It depends on what kind of game you like but if you're only looking at the quality of the game Bioshock is much better. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. felt like it wasn't even half finished while Bioshock felt like they put much time on polishing it. Both games have an interesting story but I think Bioshock did a much better job at telling the story.

Bioshock is a complete game. And it is completely satisfying. So I have to give this one to Bioshock. I did enjoy STALKER, but I also often felt like the gameplay, the world, and concept was underdeveloped (despite them working on it for 6 years).

Playing through S.T.A.L.K.E.R. at the moment. I think it's extremely cool. Reminds me of Deus Ex somewhat, not as good obviously, but it's the first game I've played in a long time that has me recalling elements of Deus Ex. The enviroments, terrain, etc. are great, just has an awesome feeling to it.

I played the demo of BioShock and will eventually play the full game (still steamed about the activation/DRM bs). The demo was cool, but it looks like it's going to be a much more closed environment type of game (opposed to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.). I expect it will be great as well though! ;)

STALKER for me, but bioshock is great too, I bet it will be better on my second playthrough. BTW I have played through STALKER 3 times and every time was great. I bet without bugs Stalker would get atleast a 9.0 from GS.

although i never played any of them (bioshock cant run SM2.0 cards and S.T.A.L.K.E.R is badly optimized), i would say bioshock from wat i hear bout the aptmosphere....although i havent heard much bout stalker story so i dont take my word for it

And BTW: this thread would be better with a poll in it =)

I would have liked STALKER more if it had the level of polish of Bioshock. I'd rate them fairly even, but i'd have to give the edge out to Bioshock.

Tough call. The gunplay in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. defecates all over BioShock, but everything else in BioShock craps all over S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I think I liked S.T.A.L.K.E.R. a bit better. Both games had crappy, unsatisfying endings.

The next patch will "fix" that and even if they didn't make one, you know it would be cracked almost instantly. Foolish reason not to want mods for a game.

If the dev doesn't support the game one bit, why should mod .. I'm lost.. 2K ruined it, simple as that.

Thats just your opinion, nothing else.

Personally i think Bioshock is one of the most overrated games in recent memory, its a fun game, but GEEEZ, most reviewers have giving it almost top points, so i expected to be blown away. But no even close, great atmosphere but otherwise its a normal standard fps. Stalker has so much more going for it, and it felt like a fresh breath of air in the fps genre when i played it.

In all honesty when I played bioshock, I was let down. When I played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I was blown away. Graphics/Optimization/Whatever doesn't kill a game in my book. People complain about those things like they really know what is going on. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was a programmed world. Things died and the environment changed randomly with or with out you. This game is a feat. Bioshock...what? It's just a pretty game made for the 360 and was released on the PC. What has it done that is sooo spectacular? I was seriously let down. I just expected...more. Lastly, there is nothing wrong with the aiming or damage cap in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Both games are great. Both have excellent graphics and replayability. I'd be hard pressed to choose one over the other but I'd have to say BioShock only because it has less problems out of the box. Now once you've patched STALKER it is every bit as great as BioShock.

I haven't played Bioshock yet, so I have to ask this question. Are they even of the same genre? It's not really a fair comparison if they aren't. I've played STALKER, and despite som flaws, I enjoy it a lot, and I have found myself delaying beating the game just so I can explore the game world. I'm hoping that Bioshock will give me incentive to do the same.

Overalll i can't pick 1one for 2nd place on ly list ...because both have their ups & downs ......so they both are in 2nd place for me after HALF-LIFE 2 ! For exemple of UPS & downs ..... BIOHSOCK is named a horror game & because of its colourfull graphics i haven't got scared not evan a 1 second ... & Stalker on the hand gived me much moretrhills because of real coloours & superb textures .... but it never quite explained the story right ! & many more of this facts makes the game quite the same this year !

Hardly fair to compare the two, they are completely different, i love the adventure aspect of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. more, but in raw graphics wise it isnt even a contest, BioShock slays S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in almost every way possible.

I vote S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but im an action-adventure, RPG and FPS fan-boy, so this had allot more of the other aspects in it and won on my list.

Both are great, but I liked stalker. It is a lot less polished. Where it sucked in story\graphics\whatever, it made up for in ambition and in gameplay. BioShock, is good, but is too flashy (has a great world, though) and is only hyped 'cause its on the 360 (in other fourms)

s.t.a.l.k.e.r is what i call a flawed masterpiece - it's a good game, but certain elements of the game (or lack thereof) prevent it from true greatness... i will not bother going into the individual elements that make stalker good/bad, i'm sure that's already been covered many times over

bioshock is a great game in its own right, but it's also a recycled version of system shock 2 - this is my problem with bioshock... when someone copies their previosu work, or that of another - no matter how good it may be in its own right, it's never going to be as good as the original, and for those who played the original, the effect is amplified several times over because it just feels like a ripoff

while bioshock is a great game, i find it impossible to really give the game the kind of high praise many others give it because system shock 2 is fundamentally identical - from narrative structure to gameplay structure to mission structure, only system shock 2 does it way, way better

buuut in the end, i still think bioshock takes it, i had more pleasure playing it, the production values are higher (which does count when it comes to immersive, atmospheric and engrossing environments - around which both games are based), and even if it is literally a copy of shock 2's story, bioshock's story is structured better and told better than stalker's- at least in theenglish version (i gather the ukranian version (or whatever it was?) works much better) - hammy dialogue and broken english really spoilt stalker for me... i hope clear sky uses a native tongue and subtitles for english versions...

they are both good games, and while s.t.a.l.k.e.r may be heavily influenced by several sources, it is at least an original game - bioshock, while the better experience all round, in my opinion, is still just a recycled version of a much better game

take that for whatever it's worth
