No One Answered Me First Time I asked so here I go again.

I bought Bioshock on GFWM when it was cheap, $2. Anyways, I installed it and when I start it up, the start up logo pops up but it just is stuck there. Nothing happens after that......The Start Up Logo just stays on there. I check Task Ma. and its running but nothing happens.

Can anyone tell me whats up?? I tried restarting it over 20 times. I turned on compatibility mode, and it does the same thing. I unistalled it and reintalled it and same thing happens.

Help??

I'm not certain. But, have you run Windows Update and see of you have the required version of .Net and various versions of MS Visual C++. I know some of my older (disc-based) games refused to install properly until those were updated.

As for Bioshock...... I have the disc version. No problems with installation.

Its interesting you have posted this, because i was just about to post something similar. I think you just need to wait a while, the game seems to take an age to load, and in game loading times are a nightmare as well :S

Someone mentioned reinstalling DirectX. I didn't have to do that for Bioshock. But, I had to previously for another game.

Wait a minute......Oh yeah.

If you haven't tried it yet....... Make a copy of Bioshock.exe at another folder. Rename it to Oblivion.exe and then put it back into the Bioshock.exe folder. Run the game off that. I had to do that to enable antialiasing in Bioshock for my ATI Radeon 5770. Maybe that might work.

While you're at it, you might want to change permissions for Program Files (x86) to full if you're in Win 7. Win 7 has a penchant for disabling user-changes to files (eg autoexec.cfg) and subfolders within Program Files (x86).

let's see....

Updating drivers.... Nope

Windows Update..... Nope

Renaming Bioshock.exe to Oblivion.exe..... Nope

I haven't asked what version of Bioshock are you running. I'm assuming you already patched it to v1.1.

Plus, you can try adding a -dx9 switch to the shortcut.

I'm not sure if your download is an archive that needed to be unzipped or not. If it is, sometimes using the Windows Unzip doesn't do a good job. I usually use 7-Zip.

Otherwise, I really am out of ideas. The most problem I had with Bioshock was forcing at least 4xAA to get rid of jaggies.

Find the Bioshck INI,must must be somewhere in your documents.Open with Notepad,in the line

AudioDevice=FMODAudio.FMODAudioSubsystem, and add the following line:

AudioDevice=D3DDrv.D3DAudioDevice

and after that add a semikolon infront of the first line,to get this

;AudioDevice=FMODAudio.FMODAudioSubsystem

save and close.

Instal Microsoft redistributable 2005/x86.

Try Disabling UAC and running the game if the above doesnt work.Instal K-lite Codec Pack Basic, and ad as exception Bioshock EXE,and GFWL,in your antivirus.

Do you have the Demo instaled,I had copy protection issues, back then.If so,uninstal the Demo, and the game and clean it out of your registry, than reinstal your game again.

Run in compatibility mode for XP,and lower your resolution.Does the task manager say running or not responding?

nope, my registry is fine as well, i cleaned it out not long ago. Its the game itself, it just sucks, every other game i run loads/runs fine. I can try it in xp compatibility but i cant see it making a difference. When i click it and wait for the splash screen to load, if i press ctrl, alt delete then it says programme not responding..but it does eventually load.

Running out of ideas, wasnt better for me either back then on XP 64 bit. What solved it for me was a complete Realtek Audio driver reinstal.Looks like your board is using them as well.

Yep, im using Realtek audio HD integrated sound, maybe thats the issue. I dont think im gonna bother messing around with it though, for the sake of 1 game, thanks for helping anyways, appreciate it :)
