This'll probably get some rage but whether you love or hate this game, there's no dnying this fact.

A lot of MMO's are problematic at launch, I agree with this but SWTOR really takes the cake.

If you look past the bugs which are many and some serious, you start to see how many things simply weren't implemented in time for launch.

The AH is a mess, no bidding system for one thing.

The economy is all over the place.

No combat logs????????

No customizable UI

No third partys mods etc, could be fine if they'd at least bothered with own versions of the most popular ones such as a damage meter.

MAJOR faction imbalance, republic fleet and worlds are desolate in comparison to empire.

MAJOR class imbalance, several classes are seriously handicapped in PvP, and the talent trees are not balanced for each individual class.

Go to Ilum as republic, engage in world PvP and you'll see exactly what I mean with the two previous above statements...

This game HAD beta testing, yet as a subscriber you FEEL like you are still playing a beta-game... if this was stilla beta-game I wouldn't complain... because Beta's are supposed to be problematic. But when I pay 60 bucks and a subscription fee I don't expect to be a beta-tester anymore.

To make matters even worse the customer-support is atrocious.

I was stuck in a texture bug and for some reason /stuck didn't work... made a ticket, logged off, came back online, stills tuck... ticket closed. Called customer support, they hung up on me because I criticised them. Went to the forums to ventilate perfectly legitimate complaints about the game AND the customer support. Thread closed. This is ONE instance among many.

I don't get why so many ppl are sticking up for this game, yes I'll admit the game in itself is NOT terrible, it has redeeming qualities but the fact is that this game should not have been released in the state it's in. Why is it ok nowadays to release half-finished products in time for christmas and then have players go through and extended period of beta-testing at FULL-price?

Just for **** and giggles let's list a few bugs as well;

UI delay... this is the worst, it makes melee combat horrible and seriously handicaps you in PvP

Instances crapping out.... you die and can't get back in due to a bug that makes the leader have to reset the instance. Sometimes the bug stays with you and the only way to get rid of it is by transferring the bug to another player by INVITING a person to a group and then leave... this person now has the bug instead of you (I'm not making this up)

Numerous graphical glitches. It's great for the immersion of the story when the npcs get covered in black goo or the eyeballs go missing.

Companions dissapearng at random after you dismount and attack.... causing you to die....

Enemies attacking through abilities that should incapacitate them

The most recent exploit of commendations for PvP... exclusive for Imp players that has given them an even more unfair advantage in PvP.

It's barely an MMO, and the major bugs and issues are not being fixed, let alone addressed and announced that they are being fixed. Disconnections are extreme, making the game unplayable and not worth subscription money and time. And many are already making excuses around it, saying it's worth it as a single-player experience when the game is a damn MMOG. I've had enough of it. The game doesn't live up to the Star Wars name.

Why put a huge planet in the game if there are obviously major issues in the game? Shouldn't they fix those first? Oh wait.. people have easily hit lvl 50 so they have to satiate those players' needs first? Their priorities are all wrong.

They even had to lock that thread up because it EXCEEDED the maximum post count. 01.05.2012 , 09:07 AM Greetings, everyone! This thread has gone over 1000 posts, our maximum post threshold. We have created a new thread so that you may continue this conversation and we may continue to monitor this important game issue. Why would anyone expect queues with empty servers? I've been checking the server statuses for the last week since I want to waste money on this game, but I also want to make sure I'm not wasting it for the sake of wasting (which is pretty much just that at this moment), most servers barely have players, some have a few and for quite some time there was only one single server with a high population...queue? it would be pathetic to have queues in such circumstances.

Exactly. Sure there are times when some servers (mostly PVP servers) hit "Heavy" but that isn't the max load a server can handle. Meaning, there shouldn't be queue times. DanielDust, the queue times are the least of SWTOR's problems. Ugh.

This game is a mess right now, THE ONLY reason I see people playing this game is because it's Star Wars.

I frankly find the fact that it's subscription-based offensive.

Yes they had a patch recently and guess what came with that? An exploit for PvP gear commendations.

Thing is though they shouldn't have to patch a game up to make the UI 100% PLAYABLE.

Patches should fix random crashes and minor issues. NOT important core gameplay mechanics that should be working fine in the first place. If these things aren't up to par then don't release it!

They clearly compromised witht his game to get it out in time for christmas and that's ****

Are you out of your freaking mind? This is one of the smoothest launches I've ever been a part of. You want to see bad MMO launches, I should take you back to the launches of Star Wars Galaxies, Anarchy Online, Asheron's Call 2, EverQuest and Ultima Online. They make this look like the best game ever made.

What Bioware was thinking when deciding to not add a combat log or allow you to customize your UI at launch I'll never know either....

Why they didn't cap faction population at servers I'll also never know... On my server, early in the evenings there's between 60-80 ppl on the fleet.

Imperial side 300+... and it's like this on MOST servers.

How they screwed up class and faction balance on a game with such long beta-testing and development is another mystery...

We've come a long way since WoW was launched, they've had so much to learn from and they still managed to release a game that is simply lacking upon release...

Many argue that WoW had problems at launch too... true it did but frankly not as many and that was 8 years ago!

Smooth? I will concede that the game isn't crashing left and right... at least they didn't screw that up...

Just because a launch is smooth doesn't mean the game is good.

The problems this game has is that it simply was not close to being finished when it was released. The fact that it launched smoothly cannot hide that.

I am offended by this games UI, that they even dared release a "mmo" with an unresponsive UI with delay issues (mostly for melee classes).

Sounds like complaints people have had with every mmo ever made at one time or another in their lifespan.

I agree the game needs a lot of improvement and fixing, but I still rather enjoy it. Especially because I can play with my friends on there soon (which I haven't got to play with them in a very long time) and my GF and I play it togethe, and her best friend which now lives over 1500 miles away, just got it, so we all play together.. That makes is more enjoyable.

That being said, I am giving them adequate time to fix these issues, and improve upon the gameplay, (NOT JUST ADD CONTENT)...

That time period is 6 months since Dec. 20th.

I am not a biodrone or fanboy, (but it seems anyone that enjoys this game is labeled that) But I will be giving it a more than fair chance... As the game sits now, we are having a good bit of fun... But if it remains in this state with no actual improvement by June-ish, then I will have to really evaluate keeping my account active... I could always suspend it, and come back to it after they actually do improve upon it, if they actually ever do.

Fanboys are annoying, but fact is, there are people that will scour the net just so they can find the tiniest morsel of problems with this game, which is truly making it seem way worse than it is. Those people are just as annoying, and sometimes worse.

BTW xxRefereeexx ^^.. New patch added customizing UI. BTW patches should fix any issue in the game that they can that way. Anyone thinks this day in age that any big game is gonna be actually finished on release is sorely mistaken and has a huge case of denial... 90% of all games are released unfinished. (with either patches, or dlc, or both on every game released in the past few years)

I've heard the new patch really broke performance for the game.

But perhaps the greatest flaw is just that the Sith are just a loot cooler than those whiny Jedis. Makes the game super unbalanced.

And sorry. I had a Sith Marauder and never had any issues with UI delay. Is your PC up to spec?

I gotta agree with you. While I personally decided to cancel my SWTOR acct. (It just wasn't really my thing and a month was fun but enough for me), it's had one of the smoothest launches I've seen in any MMO.

Is it perfect? Far from it, plenty of issues to sort out. But compare to any other MMO launch out there they seem to have done ok. ALL MMO's have issues post launch. WoW had them. Servers were crashing, gold dupes, class and faction imbalances. TBH is really just look like there's a lot of new MMO players who just haven't played an MMO at launch and are getting caught by surprise.

.. The more I hear these complaints the more I think that these people have NEVER played a MMO outside of maybe WoW a few years after its release.. WoW didn't even have pvp bg's at its release, it had two extremely bland end game encounters.. There were NUMEROUS balance issues, gameplay mechanics.. Where they basically fundamentally changed classes immensely with each expansion.. People need to get their heads out of their asses because it sounds like they have no idea what the MMORPG genre entails.. There are of course complaints to be made, but this doom and gloom painfully illustrates how you guys have never played mmorpgs at their release or in general thus far.. A MMORPG at release is NEVER a finished product and the first 6 months are really key with getting everything up and running.

Trolls gonna troll. Have not had any problems at all running the game. The endgame is pretty fun so far, we've cleared a couple of the raids trying to get ready for hard mode and nightmare modes(or whatever its called). There are pvp BGs at launch and soon to be a 4th one. They are adding UI custamization in the next patch I believe and a lot of things were addressed in 1.1. It may not be the end all be all of MMO's, but it's a good game and pretty fun playing with a bunch of my friends. The people complaining are the ones that wanted it to fail to begin with.

I'm not ripping on the game itself I think it is fairly decent.

What pisses me off is that they released the game when it was clearly not a finished product.

And I am NOT a Bioware hater, I think ME 2 is one of th ebest games this generation and I really enjoyed DAO. Not to mention my love for games like Baldurs gate and KOTOR.

Why should companies get to release sub-par products for full-price end then fix it up as they go?

I don't really care that they are adding guild banks in the future or improving UI etc in the future....

Fact is it all should have been there inthe first place.

Bugs is ONE thing... as long as they are not severe it's kind of alright

But NOT including basic features like a damn combat log for instance is another story.

Whoa, I never said the game was good. I just said it's not nearly the BETA trash you are making it out to be.

And sorry. I had a Sith Marauder and never had any issues with UI delay. Is your PC up to spec?

Might have been a tad over-exaggeration onmy part claiming the game is not "good", the game is quite alright tbh. It's just lacking too many key features at launch for me, and a few too many bugs.

My PC is not a problem but a lot of ppl have this problem, it's all over the forums and BW has acknowledged it. Some ppl claim not to have it and I have no idea why that is. If my PC can run BF3 on the highest setting with good performance, and Rift without UI delay etc... I can't see why SWTOR should be a problem

Tell me what game is NOT released before finished? In todays age deadlines rule the market. Release the game and then fix it by patches.
