Downloading the demo now.
Project Zomboid also looks like a good zombie/survival game. It's done from an overhead perspective. They're doing it like Minecraft, in the sense that you can buy it now and play it as it's made. There's a demo!
Yeah, I've been playing Project Zomboid. It needs a lot of work but I'll try to stick to the current topic. (:Downloading the demo now.

Oh btw, day one purchase. :)Elann2008
I agree, it's a great concept, being able to mix elements to get ammo is a great idea. Also, the game looks fantastic and it runs extremely well, if the final game is similar to the prototype then Darkworks could probably finish I Am Alive soon :D
BTW No console release? Console gamers want something with zombies that isn't campy (Dead Rising 2 and Dead Island are great examples of this).
I liked the demo quite a bit. the atmosphere was fantastic while wearing the gas mask in the fog and the lighting effects were pretty cool. It is extremely linear however, forcing you down one narrow path. This becomes much more obvious when the fog was lifted.

I've never been so excited about a game because of a teaser trailer in my life (I Am Alive). I just couldn't get over it and still I hope that I Am Alive is still in the works even if it is on hold right now. Black Death is one of my highly anticipated games now. I'm such a sucker for zombie games. :P^I hope I Am Alive makes it to release too.
Concept looks great.
Assuming the game is all focusing on natural disaster and the conflicts between people afterwards, it makes it even more impressive if they've going for a horror vibe.

God I love that game (project zomboid). Next update is adding a whole ton of things (professions and traits, craftable doors, bored and depressed moods, illness from rotten or uncooked food, curtains, burgalar alarm on random houses, can get cold from to much rain, mod usage, etc..), cant wait 8)
This game here in this thread looks interesting to, gonna keep an eye on this ;)
Hahaha. My first thought was the movie as well but Black Death the video game has potential. :DThanks for reminding me of that Sean Bean movie, I'm going to watch it right now.
I'm fully expecting his character dies, why else would he play in a movie?

Im digging it, the atmosphere and lack of ammo is a nice touch. I kind of wish they melee combat was more satisfying though (like in condemned). Also, what happened to I Am Alive? Did it get delay or is it vaporware at this point? Dante2710I'm not sure exactly what happened with "I Am Alive." I heard it's going to be turned into an XBLA game or something like that. Small budget game perhaps? Not like it was teased to be. But then again, all we got was that amazing teaser trailer. One could only wonder. :P
Sure hope this gets released and not abandones. Both atmosphere and gameplay are very good. It reminds me of Amnesia, less scary and of course, it's a FPS too. But the atmosphere reminded me of Amnesia. Will buy it!
It's pretty cool.. I love the atmosphere and game mechanics and the whole idea behind it. As previously stated, the game is incredibly linear, and the pushback seems pretty OP like L4D1. Also I need some FOV options :oMyopicCanadianyeah the FOV is way too narrow, feels like i'm crawling on the ground

Then again, some XBLA, PSN or Steam exclusive games are absolutely amazing and they still have huge budgets.

Dead Island still hasn't been released yet so how do you know it's campy? I wholeheatedly disagree and I wouldn't judge the atmosphere of the game simply based on a trailer. I think Dead Island is going to be one of the most unique zombie FPS games because of the stamina combat system I was reading in a gamespot hands on preview (read the article here):http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/dead-island/news/6313671/dead-island-hands-on-preview-to-kill-a-zombie?mode=previews
While there will be limited guns the emphasis in combat will be melee. The unique twist will is that running, attacking, jumping, and other abilities all deplete stamina and when you run out of stamina you become ineffective unable to defend yourself. This means you can't run around indefinitely and wildly attack everything you see as you might do in other similar games because in this game you will drain your stamina. The challenge will be when facing large groups of enemies to actually plan out your moves and how you will use your stamina so you don't waste it on unnecessary actions and leave yourself vulnerable. I don't think Dead Island will be campy at all. On the other hand, Dead Rising 2 is very campy I will agree, but that game sucked.
Back to topic. I'm going to download and try out the demo tonight since it does look good even if it is linear as others have said.
It's nice to hear someone else mention I Am Alive and I've been looking forward to this as well.

True, true. I failed to mention that. Actually I was going to say that but it slipped my mind. You're absolutely right.[QUOTE="KillerJuan77"]

I just hope you could turn off all the hit points and stuff like that. The interface in its current state looks too vibrant for a non-campy zombie game. But then again, we don't know much about it yet.[QUOTE="AnimusCarcer"][QUOTE="KillerJuan77"]

But then again, we don't know much about it yet.How do you define campy? I see it as something full of tongue-in-cheek satirical humor which is a parody and not meant to be taken seriously. A great example would be the 1985 Fright Night which is a derision of the vampire genre in cinema and because of it's awkward characters spewing out quirky dialogue with the actors' ridiculous delivery of their lines it's meant to make you laugh more than it is trying to scare you. That is campy as I define it.
From what I have seen in the Dead Island trailer it appears to have a serious tone and I really didn't notice anything which was intended to make me laugh. Of course I could be wrong and like you said we just don't know enough about it at the time. Let's say I hope it isn't campy, but regardless I will still play it because on the PC we need a good zombie game especially a zombie FPS. The innovative stamina combat system seems to be an unconventional approach to the FPS genre and a step in the right direction in producing something refreshing to fans of the genre. We can only hope it plays out as well as it is intended.
Elaborate on what you mean by "turning off the hit points"? When I read that statement for a moment I thought you were talking about a RPG. I'm unaware of any hit point system in Dead Island and if there is one how would turning off hit points be a good thing as you see it? I'm really curious by all this.
