I currently have a problems in all my PC games where there are black lines diverging from certain objects in the game. It has happened in Galactic Civilizations 2, Wacraft 3, Guild Wars and the World in Conflict demo. I have the latest nvidia drivers for winxp pro. Anyone else knows what I should set to prevent this problem:

Disable "Triple Buffering" and "Vsync" from "Nvidia Control Panel".If the problem persists, deactivate "Mipmaps".

most likely overheating. Can you check your temps and tell us what they are? Also did you overclock anything? If so, i suggest you set everything back to default and see if it helps. But its most likely overheating, or driver issue.

It could possibly be a program running in the background that is causing this. Check what you are running and see whether canceling a process/application makes it any better. Also be careful what you do cancel as it could be something that is essential for your system to run. Otherwise it could be anything from graphic drivers/directx updates and fixes to hardware overheating.

My current GPU temp is 62C, it goes around 68C when I play games. My graphics card is OC by default, it's the 7900 GT/GTO. Do you know how I can check if my current card is really OC, if it is, how do I turn it off?

does it happen in other games too? If it does, try rolling back to some older drivers and see if something changes.

Its your graphics card.I used to have the same exact problems with my 7900gt OC. It's just going to get worse from here on out, so i suggest getting a new video card.

Agreed. Unfornately there were bad cards in the 7900 OC batch. I had the same problems with mine as well. I would recommend sending it to be replaced (That's what I did) or buy a 8 Series card.

That sucks, the games were playing well for a good 15 months with that card. It seems to be happening for games only, everything else is fine though. I think I'll just move to PS3 gaming this year.

PS3?? Why would you do something like that... Get a PS2 if you go with playstation.. It's cheaper and it doesn't suck.. (they actually have games for it!!)

Yeah, I remember all the talk way back about the 7900GT having voltage problems when overclocked even a little beyond stock, thus causing similar problems to overheating. That's why I made sure mine was at all stock speeds when I bought it.

I already have a PS2 for the last 2 years, I've exhausted the games I want to play on it + the games are not looking so hot on my HDTV. I just want a PS3 for Tekken 6 and the other fighting games on it.
