Black Ops 2 multiplayer really is not a massive turd.

So I decided to pick this up "used" on console this afternoon. I have had my issues with the COD games but still found them to be pretty fun and of decent quality for the most part.

But Blaks Ops 2....wow. What a turd of a game. I'm not sure if it's because I have been playing so much BF3 on PC or what but I'm taking this game back to gamestop. I was not expecting amazing graphics with it being on console and all but to me it seems like everything from the maps to the art direction and animations have just gone to crap.

I don't know...maybe it's always been a turd and I'm just noticing it now because I have been away from it for a while.

Did a different team do this latest game or what?

I don't know what BO2 you played, but the one I got was excellent.

What they did with BO 2 was to tone down on the numerous paths, because whiners couldn't take it and they ended up with something between the insecurity of MW 3 and the security of your random shooter with 2 paths, 3 at most.

I really like BLOPS multiplayer. Ill admit Im a COD fan and I still think the original MW was the best. But BLOPS 2 is way better than BLOPS 1. And I prefer BLOPS to BF3 anyday. They really are just very different games, but I like fast paced run and gun.

On the SMGs. I refuse to use them for the most part. I have a 2.2 overall ratio using the first shotgun, a mix of assault rifles, light machine guns and the first sniper. So its not SMG or nothing, you just have to know how to play different ways. With the shotgun, the skill is in closing the distance to an opponent as well as possible and using corners to your advantage.

Anyways, I like the multi quite a bit. I have 70 hours in or so, I have not one minute in the single player game so I cant comment.

You are probably right, but it doesn't ruin the game for me. Every player complains when someone uses a weapon they dont use. I get so much grief for using shotty as my primary. Then if I snipe I am a camper.....Its domination, camping a point is kinda part of the game....

I don't begrudge anyone for using something the designers created. Target finders as well...Its in the game, go ahead and use em.

BO2 is really cod 4 with a makeover. as is all COD games. moneymakers i call them. once youve played one youve played them all.

To each his own I guess. The BO2 I got looked terrible, all the weapons feel the same and the maps were crazy boring...this is just my opinion of course. IMO the quality is WAY below BF3....you can't can't compare.

The whole game is terrible. Played it at my friends and am glad I did not buy it, because I would've been extremely dissapointed spending $60 on a game my friends baby brother could've made.

I was a cod fan I loved cod4 WatW and MW2 but every cod since mw2 blows chunks. The lag in the recent cods is unbarable. The maps are horrible. It's almost as if the developers are trying to make the weapons as useless as possible. After 130 days of playtime with the cod series I'm done with it. I will never play another cod again it's junk.

I thought it had some potential the first day or two, then after playing all maps and tooling around with all the weapons, I realized it was just another CQC cluster**** with SMG's ruling the day.  Blops 1 maps were bad enough.. I didn't think they'd manage to make em even smaller and more random.

I'm more a fan of MW1 and MW2 since the way the maps are designed, you have more control over the flow of battle instead of running around like a chicken with its head cut off and shooting whatever pops up.

But yeah.. Blops 2 is pretty bad. 

It's ok for a brainless FPS IMHO, but it gets boring after a while and the DLC packs will split the community...

Bad maps. Small maps. SMG hipe fire fest (everything else is useless except maybe one or two assault rifles). Forced to prestige to unlock everything (perks, guns, equipment, etc)

I use M8A1 and SMG kiddies don't stand a chance. DevilMightCry

FAL with select fire here. Trying to get diamond SMG's atm, but whenever I get bored, I just switch to that gun and pwn for a few :P

Guess I totally disagree with most here. I wasn't going to get Blops 2 but my friends wanted me to come play with them. So far about 120hrs clocked on MP. Probably the best CoD after COD4 or even Modern Warfare 1. Does it do anything different? A few things here and there, but it's great fun with friends.FelipeInside

Ok so after reading all these opinions I decided to look it up on youtube and watch some videos in HD. It looked WAY better than the 360 version from what I could see and so after watching about an hour worth of youtube I decided to to buy it on PC.

Let me say this, I don't know if something was wrong with my copy of BO2 on xbox or what (I did get a few read disk errors also) but the PC version is MUCH better. I would not say it looks amazing but it looks a whole lot better than the 360 version and the added mouse vs controller made a massive difference.

That said there are a couple things that I don't like....no choke points on the maps is one thing. I find choke points a lot of fun personally. Also I can't really tell the difference between the guns....they all fee the same to me. And overall the game feels very old as far as game play goes.

It's not the turd I thought it was but it's just more casual than BF3 which I have been playing a lot lately.

EDIT: Oh and the animations have gotten worse...imo anyway.

There ARE choke points on map, you just haven't played enough maybe.

Again maybe you haven't played enough but I can tell the difference, even within a same group.Gameplay is same old same old COD, nothing new or revolutionary, although the addition of robots is nice, and not OP like everybody thought they would be.

Not a turd by any means, and yes it might be more casual to the common eye but I'm going for Diamond Camo and it's gets "interesting" trying to unlock everything.

To me they are the same and fine.

It's not worthy of best selling FPS series by a long shot but it's not a terrible game.

BF3 is by far and in every way a better game but BO2 is decent fun as well. The thing is it feels old...really old. Reminds me a quake almost with the crazy fast speed of the game. It's also not a very nice looking game imo. Sure it's got decent textures but the lighting in the game is really dated and the gameplay feels like counter strike or something like that from last gen.

Again these things don't mean it's not fun but it is for sure one of the most overrated games I have ever played imo.

That's my point really. It sells great and it is a fun game but games like BF3 offer SO much more. BO2 does nothing better than BF3 with the exception of hit detection. Other than that it's a simple run-n-gun that's been done over and over. Sure it's done a bit better than most but it's obvious they are putting very little into the game these days. Different perks and crap like that but it's really the same old thing over and over running on the same old crappy engine from the 90s. It looks dated and plays dated...the good thing is that they manage to still make it fun and it runs at about 500fps on a decent pc.

BF 3 isn't a competition to anything, it achieved only one thing, best graphics in an online shooter with decently sized maps, that is not enough to make a game good.DanielDust

I do not agree at all. It's got a more realistic feel than any other shooter out there, best vehicles, destructible environments, best graphics, best art direction, best animations and the best ballance of weapons imo.

BO2 while fun lacks in every one of these areas. It's not a nice looking game, has no vehicles, every weapons feels pretty much the same, has old a$$ animations, no destructible environments...it's just a maze with people blasting eac other. It's quake...but "a little" newer.
