It's better I think.
Dedicated server with free multiplayer, M&KB and better graphics.
Only cons is there's no party system on PC.
What about the fact that it runs like crap for a lot of people? It's better I think.

Anyways when people ask for a comparison I just compare the PC version working on a machine that handles it fine. There will always be computers that can't run games... no point mentioning it every time.
Game still runs like crap, especially for a game that looks no better then World at War. Also they added some kind of garbage mouse acceleration or mouse smoothing... It's like you have no raw mouse input. Feels very sluggish. As far as multiplayer goes its more like a cut down version of World at War.
Its terrible
The only good version of Black Ops is the the 360 version. The PS3 and PC version are pretty bad...
I still have performance issues... I'll be getting 100+ fps and then it will drop to 30, no matter what my settings are. I just went back to MW2. The only thing I miss is playing hardcore with pistols as my main weapon in Blops. And they have some cool SMG's as well. Didn't care much for any other part of the game...
Try the free weekend and see if it runs okay on your PC. It's almost random whether or not it'll run fine, but luckily, it runs smooth as butter for me.
Anyways, I haven't played it on console, but I don't really have any problems with PC. I always hear people complaining about hit detection on the 360, which has never been an issue for me. And thanks to dedicated servers I never run into any horrible lag, which is also a major complaint from console players.
All I can suggest is to try the free weekend and see for yourself.

I have the PS3 version because I was told the PC version was terrible and in my experience that was true. Granted, I didn't like the PS3 version either...
I tried a free weekend and honestly it ran like utter crap. I don't have any problems with any games but Black Ops just completely junked out on me. Multiplayer freezing, couldnt set the screen res past 640x256 or something insane like that from the options menu without the game crashing.
Worst thing ever. And I don't even understand why.
Please just don't buy it... if you want CoD wait for MW3 or something... really...
The PC version is a decent port. The only time it ran horrible was the week the game came out. After the patches the games run perfect. Looks way better than the console version, better controls, it has dedicated servers. And also has mod support. But if you dont have COD4 get that game, its a better game.
its not the best game to begin with...but my exp on the pc version on hardcore...everyone uses silencers and camps...or its a grenade syntax fest...people try to troll me sayin i have a bad kdr...but dying 5 or 6 times in a row on spawn to a grenade...not fun...and does wonders for kdr...
Why do you care about KDR? >_>its not the best game to begin with...but my exp on the pc version on hardcore...everyone uses silencers and camps...or its a grenade syntax fest...people try to troll me sayin i have a bad kdr...but dying 5 or 6 times in a row on spawn to a grenade...not fun...and does wonders for kdr...

i dont other than thats the only metric people tend to think of for measuring skill...i dont really care about kdr...but dying on spawn cause of grenade spam sucks...i really dont care about camping that much...after awhile u learn where to look lolz...camping really hinders the campers skills...but i cant tell u how many games of blops ive played where its pretty much spawn..boom...spawn...boom...spawn...boom...spawn 2 steps...boom...rinse and repeat...it just removes all of the fun for me...i mean seriously how can it be fun if u cant actually play the game on most servers...
Pass on COD:BO. The online is a horribly laggy mess for both console and pc verions. The pc version (for me at least) does not run well despit having a more than capable rig and reducing settings. The campaign is actually pretty fun, but I wouldn't pay as much as its priced now. The online servers a lot of my favorite ones started using the new map packs which I do not want to buy.
I would however suggest buying COD:BO for ps3/360 if you live in college dorms, and have other zombie lovers. The game mode is isanely addictive, and regardless of what you think about COD they did this mode right.
k guys after playing it for free off steam i chose to buy it, and it runs smoothly no problemskyle_360Enjoy ;), people that say it runs bad have no idea what they're talking about, even if it's Activision support gets funded after the first week of release (when there really were these problems). One thing's for sure, it's better than MW 2 at everything, they still didn't fix the micro stutter on that one.

There will always be computers that can't run games ... even though they can cover the max settings of those games ...
And that was the story of me and BO that began last year since day one pre-order and ended last week ...
i was just wondering if the pc version was just as good as the console version, and if there were any differences that you could tell me so i can deside which version to choose from
kyle_360
consoles - 1024x600, 2xAA, 0xAF, medium settings, 50-60fps, smaller FOV, no dedicate server, controller
PC - 1920x1200, 8xAA, 16xAF, high settings, 120-150fps, large FOV, dedicate server, k/m
as you can see pc version is way better.

My advice will be not to buy it.. pretty bad game, i dislike cods, and this is one of the worsts. On pc should look sharper cos higher res.. blah blah blah but it'll run all way laggy, both in performance n server..
I think that u can play it free this weekend on steam.
If u must get it cos some m8 gettin it too, get it on console, runs better and it's meant for console.
Hope that helps

not sure if serious. how it dose run better on console when on pc you get double the fps and less ping(because of dedicate servers), and how it is meant for consoles when every fps game is meant for PC?

u ppl here are quite stubborn. "every fps game is meant to pc" now, is that serious? specially referrin to cod And in my experience, i've attempted to run the game, first, on a Q9550 @3.6 8gb ddr3 1333 n gtx 470 and it was between 40-70 fps, with huge drops, also attempted runnin it on an amd x4 955BE 3.4ghz with 1600mhz ddr3 n ati 4890 n it ran about the same.. About the dedicated servers, my opinion doesnt rly count as my old dsl is pretty slow, but i know ppl with fast optic fiber connection who hav problems with it..[QUOTE="MK-Professor"][QUOTE="alan_carter"]

Also i finding very hard to believe that in your system cod run like that because in my system ( i7 4.1GHz, 6GB, GTX480 OC) run like that 1920x1200, 8xAA, 16xAF, high settings, 120-150fps, large FOV.

Yeah bud, we all love playing high fps and with sharp graphics.
Tbh, i got a ps3 few years ago, and i've merely used it cos it's a joke to play there, not just lower resolution, ehm,., i hate playin fps with controller and evrything looks blurry, slow and jagged.
But those simple games like cod, are great for mainstream console gamers who aren't looking for any complex thing. They're stunned with cod effects and weird weapons... so yeah, pc gamers, are number 2 here.. just remember how long it took for them to release BO dlcs for pc? months later..
Btw, ur pc is quite alot faster than my systems. I also know one guy, with an old dual core and a hd4850 who runs the game better than me.. so there should be some trouble between my pc n bo lol
The game still runs like ****. Bad stuttering, massive frame-rate dips. And the game, itself, is terrible.C_Rule
This, I can max out BC2 with 8x AA at 1080p, and I do get better performance with it, than I do on COD:BO (and I played it with things turned down and off, shadows were completely off, and performed much worse than a better looking, and much larger game)
And the game still plays like crap. (saying it only had performance issues during the launch week is just naive) Even months after it came out it still was under performing.

Doesn't matter if the game is simple or not. the pc version is the superior version for the reasons that I stated earlier. Btw my system (i7 4.1GHz & GTX480OC) is not anywhere near as fast to get 3 times more fps than your system (Q9550 3.6GHz & GTX470), so their is a serious problem from your side (don't know what it is, Internet lag or hardware problem or whatever)
also the thing with the dlcs means nothing because microsoft pays money to delay the release of dlcs for the pc and ps3.
No no no no no. I've had the game since release and its absolutely awful. I played it recently on the ps3 and was amazed that it could be played that well. I live in Canada and 90% of the servers under 100 ping play one map (nuketown). Its impossible to find a decent server in anything other then deathmatch and you cannot play with your friends most of the time; if you do get in to a game with them you cannot change teams should you be stuck on opposite sides. The performance issues are random, some machines cannot run the game at all (despite having killer specs) and other computers run it fine. I've played all the cods on my pc and this is the only one that cannot consistently run 40fps+.
TLDR: The consoles have more players, have people playing different game modes, allow you to play with your friends and have a consistent frame rate. If graphics are the only thing that matter to you then go for it and pray that it can at least run on your computer.
It is the worst Call of Duty since Call of Duty 3. I would pass if I were you and stick with the others.
CoD 2, MW1, MW2 are currently the only CoD games worth even touching on PC. I know for a fact MW2 can run on practically any rig on max at 60+ FPS, although somehow it seems MW2 actually gets better framerates than MW1. Also, if you live in an area where p2p matchmaking gives you issues, use AlterIWnet since it's a client that lets you play on dedicated servers, which Activision unfortunately did not include with the vanilla version of MW2 on PC. Also, do check out the spec ops co-op, it's the best co-op in the entire CoD series, and I'm pretty sure MW3's version will be terrible compared to this. If there's one thing CoD you play, it should be the spec ops mode in MW2, forget the campaigns.
The game is one of the most horribly optmized games I have played.
It made GTA 4 seem well optimized.
Black Ops is probably up there with Saints Row although atleast Saints Row would run fine if you turned off some of the settings.
Black Ops would run like crap even on low settings even after all those 5-6+ patches.
