Black Ops Gun Game

I'm sure many of you have seen this, or maybe posted about it. But I was recently watching the CoD7 gameplay video, and when hearing the description for their new game mode, and then the name (gun game), I was partly infuriated.

For those who don't know, gungame (as it should be spelled) is a very popular mod from counter strike. The way it works is identical in both games: You start with the weakest weapon, and each kill gives you a stronger one. You win when you get a kill with all weapons.

What's my problem with this? The fact that Treyarch copied a game mode made by developers, without giving them any credit, other than 'This one comes straight from the community'. They could have at least mentioned the source of it, or maybe at least changed the name.

What this seems like, to me, is another desperate ploy to get PC gamers back in on Call of Duty. I, for one, am not impressed with Treyarch, nor Activision.

Someone from NeoGAF posted scans from a UK magazine that allows scans, but I can't find the post now. Treyarch mentions it was a popular mod in COD4 too, and that's why they included it.

But this doesn't matter, because according to EULAs every mod belongs to the game's developers.

Treyarch did more than enough by saying where the idea came from. What, should they include the original modders in the credits too?

And please don't be paranoid...

I played tons of Gun game on CSS, I'm happy to see it in Black Ops. Just adds more fun to the game. I don't know who came up with the idea and also don't really care. My ONLY complaint would be that it's "fast" gungame, not slow. They give you the new weapon instantly instead of having to wait to spawn, or picking the correct weapon off the ground.

Who cares? Are you really going to complain about them adding game modes to this game? You are insane.

I seriously think you guys will complain about just ANYTHING CoD.

Be happy theyre trying to spice up the FPS genre.

As others have said, it really doesn't matter. Gun Game has been around for so long and between replicated in multiple mods that I doubt Valve or the Counter Strike community would even care. FPS veterans know where its from anways, and we are the ones that are going to be sticking around unlike the casual crowd (presuming the game is good of course). I think its a cool addition, Gun Game is the only reason I keep going back to CSS and if they make it fun in Black Ops then I might not have any more reasons to go back.

Baranga, you the man. Keep it up seriously. I can hardly believe people are complaining about this.

Has the game any not deathmatch focused mode? I mean, a game mode focused in objectives as Assault in UT games, or the one from Quake Wars or so. I just saw the vid from the multiplayer and all game modes looks like the same deathmatch with variants.

Reverse gun games were the best

I don't really care. The mode where you only have 1 bullet and killing someone else gives you a bullet looks pretty fun though.

Personally I don't really care although I can't wait for when CS2 comes out with GG already in the game and all the consolites cry "omg dey copyed cod wtf!"
