After reading countless posts warning others against buying this game and claiming that no matter how good your computer is, the game will not run well enough so that you can enjoy it (specifically multiplayer), I've decided to take matters into my own hands and upload a video that shows me joining and playing through a round with zero frame rate or stuttering issues. Here is the video:

It's funny so many people are upset, yet for me it's perfectly fine and runs exactly like Modern Warfare and World at War. I just thought I should post this so that at least some users looking into purchasing this game will know that these issues do not affect everybody and that you can enjoy the game. I've beaten the entire single-player campaign and played through many matches of the Zombies maps, too, and have experienced no frame rate issues there either. And for the record, my computer's specs:

Intel i7 860
8 GB RAM
ATI HD 5870

And that's a shame, because for me and a friend who lives close by, no issues exist. It really makes me wonder what we're doing differently, or if we're just "special" and can play the game just fine whereas everyone else complains that it's unplayable.

I suppose I missed those viewpoints amidst the five-thousand other threads begging for refunds, slamming the developers, and searching for the meaning of life amidst such a tragedy as being unable to properly play Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Are the issues with the PC version Hardware related.

I have:

Intel Core i7 920, 6 GB RAM, and a ATI Radeon HD 4850 512mb

I fear that this hardware will not be able to handle the game.

That's all well and good but that doesn't help the people playing it who have the problem. It seems completely random to be honest. There are people with great rigs like yours complaining that it is unplayable and then people with rigs like mine who can play it fine (I however cannot play it fine). Only one person on my friends list can play multiplayer without any stuttering (except for the kill cam), his rig isn't amazing but he can still max the game at 1080p no problems.

Depends on Resolution. But the main issue is software related

The game runs fine for me.

Strangely enough, setting AA to max solved my stuttering issues. The only side effect is a lower average FPS, but it's still good enough for me (60 instead of 100).

Let me jsut come on out and say... The problem it seems relies in a software problem and to much dependence on the CPU.. The TC is on a dang i7.. This game should not come close to needing that. A good duel core should easily be enough to handle the game but for some reason, the game is extremely cpu heavy. Its just poorely optimized for some reason. Whats really weird is resolution changes is not solving the stuttering (FPS drop from really high to really low then back up to high). Game just needs optimization and patch work.

That's great that you are not having trouble, but that does not excuse the fact that these problems DO exist. If it were me, I would hold off due to all the problems. Too much money to take a gamble and not have it work just because you do not have these problems.

Having lots of issues here...I can't play Single Player or zombies because of constant stutter and FPS bug. Multiplayer works better, but it still suffers from stuttering and memory leak issues.

No, you're not the only one having issues with Black Ops

Nope, it's not just you. As Steam stats tell us that more than 76,000 people have already piled into Call of Duty: Black Ops on launch day, some portion of that playerbase is reporting intermittent lag issues following them through multiplayer that don't seem to be caused by elderly hardware. Within the Steam forums, the current theory is that it's a resource issue: CPU load for players experiencing the lag is running at or near 100%. Anecdotally, I'd agree that the three-to-four-second full-stops I'm experiencing online definitely don't resemble a network problem.

Black Ops' multiplayer design director, David Vonderhaar, soft-confirmed that Treyarch is aware of the issue. While we await hard confirmation on a fix, peek within for a video demonstration of what many players are coping with.

He should be able to run it at max settings. I can, and I have a (supposedly) inferior GPU (9800 GT).

i7 930 @ 4.2 ghz, 6GB DDR3 PC1600 RAM, and a Radeon HD 5850 (also overclocked). I don't get the stuttering as bad as others, but I get a 1/2 second stutter once a minute or so, and it'll seriously happen at the worst of times. No other games I have do this. And the multiplayer is laggy. I don't even see how anyone can deny that, especially considering how CS:S has a much better net code.

"It's funny so many people are upset"

What's funny about that? Since the patch this afternoon, the game is finally running well for me.. but I feel for those that get some serious stuttering, including a friend of mine (we've tried just about everything for his PC).. all they wanna do is play and enjoy a game they paid for.

Has ran well for me to. They also just released two small patches on steam. First one was for multiplayer, and one just a few mins ago for singleplayer.

Really enjoying the game btw (:

Me neither TC, even before the patches. When I first heard of this issue, I was completely taken aback - Black Ops actually runs a bit faster on my PC than MW2 did lol.

Not its the game. The game is brocken.

And most people are having stuttering, good for you that you don't. But 80% of everyone else is. Including me.

Funny how the developers said that only a small percentage of players are having these problems. I wonder if he has even looked at the cod forums or steam forums. That small percentage must have about 20 alts each.

Boo. :( This sucks legitimately, because I really want you all to be able to experience this game - this is the CoD we have been waiting for since 4, and it plays so nice, especially on PC (trust me, when you all get through this, you'll be super happy with this game) and I really want to, like, discuss it with people, but everyone is having major issues. I feel for you guys, I really do. :( Hopefully Treyarch gets a fix out soon, because this game is incredible.

I found that funny too. I didn't even bother making an account to **** I just got my copy and took it right back to the store(Luckily I check the forums and stuff before opening. This allows me to return something without much hasle). It's Call of Duty, I should have expected nothing less.

SP and multiplayer were patched today. Both perform much better then before, but stutter stil remain.

The community manager has posted what they are working on at the moment
