Ok, seriously. I just got the game and started playing roughly 5 hours....

Final Verdict, UNPLAYABLE.

Wtf is up with the twitchy graphics and lag? My ping on the servers I join are fantastic 40-90, and yet I can barely run 5feet w/o the game spiking on me...I check online and turns out alot of people are experiencing this issue on PC. I sure hope they patch fix ASAP.

I haven't played MP yet, but I've heard/read lots of people have graphics and lag problems. So this makes conclude that MW2's ONLINE AUTOMATIC SERVERS were better than Dedicated... I remember playing MW2 MP 2 days after release and no lag problems at all....

I play BC2 and all current games on high to max just fine. I tried played around with all the settings, and still doesnt stop the stupid amounts of stuttering lag.

its a memory leak issue which makes your PC no matter what processor you have hit near 100% at times, there will be a patch to resolve this then it will be fine. though they should have noticed such an issues before launch.

Yea single player is fine...its MP mode that cranks up your memory to 100%. I found out after going to task manager while running MP in the back.

Is weird how the game performs in the multiplayer: I have between 50-80 fps with all maxed at 1680 x 1050 AA X16 AF X8, which can be considered a phenomenal framerrate, but the game still doesn't run silky and smooth, but flickering and shuttering and lagging.

I think that is a problem with the netcode or maybe Steam works. BC 2 has better visuals and destructible environment and runs smoothly even with 32 players whereas Black Ops with half dozen of players is a lagfest.

To get rid of the lag online go to settings in STEAM, then go to ingame options and disable steam community. Doing this will get rid of the lag online.

What are you talking about child? I own 30+ games on steam, how you gonna tell me that? Get yourself Black Ops on PC and then come back and talk. The lag aint got nothing to do with Steam or your internet, its a cpu issue that spikes everyones processor when their playing MP mode.

You completely misinterpreted who he was talking to and to what he was referring to. He was responding to FelipeInside's claim of p2p being better than dedis and used source engine games wtth great netcode and performance on their dedicated servers to say Dedicated servers more or less pwn p2p gaming.

This, jokes on you OP.

CoD games never really had a history of awful game breaking buginess/performance issues like many people are now experiencing with black ops...:| In fact, all their previous games were generally hardware friendly and ran very pleasantly performance/graphics-wise To the OP, im in the same situation with the same issues, along with tons of other people across the globe. There doesn't seem to be any real fix the user can do, and our only choice really is unfortunately to just wait for them to patch it out. :(

You can fix the online lag yourself with one simple action within STEAM.

And as for the SP it ran perfectly fine on my system.

Thats not a true fix, and there is no true fix out there until treyach does something...

It reduced some stuttering in single player, but multiplayer is still a **** fest of stuttering, and its still very poor performance/framerates in both sp and mp.

True and I'm not defending Treyarch for this mess of a port they should have optimised it better for the PC. Guess I'm one of the few lucky ones who could play through the SP without FPS drops or any form of lag whatsoever but people should try disabling steam community within steam because that got rid of the lack in MP for me and other people on the steam forums.

I dont even blame Treyarch. I blame Activision. Devs have little to nothing to say about when a game is released. If a game is pushed out the door by the publisher it does not matter if you are the best devs in the world or not, there will be problems and there little to do but try and fix them, fast. Its a shame that all the negativity is aimed at Treyarch instead of Activision.

Seems like Treyach has really ****ed up. I heard the PS3 version also doesn't perform well. I guess Treyach's programmers only know how to code for X360. Sad.

The upsetting part is that WaW was overall a very smooth and pleasant experience when i played it within the first few weeks of release. Really dont know how black ops took such a bad turn lol.

Its a shame that all the negativity is aimed at Treyarch instead of Activision.

How is Activision responsible? Treyarch should not call themselves a "PC developer" if they can't even get the PC version running right. Whether or not they were pushed for a certain timeframe, it's THEIR game, it's THEIR code. Pushing the blame on evil old Activision is just laughable. I can bet you if the same thing happened on 360 it would've been fixed yesterday. Morning.

Yeah, there's really no excuse. They've had like 2 years to work on it, and the engine is old as hell, so they should know how to optimize it properly. One of my friends has a dual 9800GTX setup and it runs at like 45 fps or so (sometimes slows down to 25/30) and he thinks it's no big deal. The thing is, it runs much worse than Modern Warfare 2 (he had 60fps in MW2) and hardly looks any better. People defend COD too much, just so they can somehow justify wasting 60 dollars on a rehash.

Once more...its the publisher that decides when the game is released not the developer...This isnt Valve that self finances their own games and can do whatever the hell they please. Its like Lucas Arts pushing KOTOR2 out the door after barely a year of development, Obsidian cant do crap about it becouse the money is from Lucas Arts. Same situation here the publisher shelling out the money for the game says the game is done and it must be so. As for your 360 comment. Thats obvious. If a game sells 2 million copies on a consoles and 200k copies on PC what do you think is the priority for patching? Hell just look at the reviews and overall press coverage no one cares about the PC version of the game except the players and I guess Destructoid.

Thats not a true fix, and there is no true fix out there until treyach does something...

It reduced some stuttering in single player, but multiplayer is still a **** fest of stuttering, and its still very poor performance/framerates in both sp and mp.

KhanhAgE

Seems like Treyach has really ****ed up. I heard the PS3 version also doesn't perform well. I guess Treyach's programmers only know how to code for X360. Sad.

not the 360 either ive had several crashes during the sp... first time ive ever seen a graphics error code flash up on screen on a 360
