Black Ops - Theater Mode!

I just recently watched a video about the Theater Mode for Black Ops. Holy crap, man, that really is so cool. I'm so buying this game now. It's got so much content in it that I think it's actually going to be the best $60 I've spent this year. And here's thinking CoD 4 will be the last CoD game I'll buy.

Anyone also going to be excited to be able to create movies from your in-game matches? :D

Theater mode is nothing particular. I don't understand what you are excited about.

Theater mode will most likely require a subscription and use of their proprietary stuff. Just a heads up before you get to excited. This would be the work of Activision, not Treyarch mind you.

Isn't theater mode just a replay of the input history?

How would Activision be able to force a subscription on that?

Basically it's like the GTA IV video editor, although more simple, you get to save replays of your match and then edit it. You can change the camera between 1st person, free cam etc. It'll be much more easier and better for making Black Ops machinima movies.

It's only a good thing for those who enjoy making machinima videos. Notice when I put "EDIT", it's not just a replay, it's an in-game video editor. People can use this to make machinima movies (montage, story-driven, music video etc.)

It's a neat feature.

Game is lookign better and better, hated Modern Warfare2, but this looks like ALOT of fun.

I said I wouldn't buy another CoD game after I got shafted with MW2. Plus the game is £40. However, if I had enough money to spare I'd maybe actually buy the game.

everyone complained , Dice promised server moding / control but frostbite engine was way to complex for that , but theres still some scripts in servers you , like auto messages , auto kick etc. aw theres even google translator script that translates all chat to your chosen language and man its hilarious :DFarkeman

ye , frostbite engine looks amazing but man it is clunky ... clunky and fps doesnt rly go together , thats why games on source engine are so good :)Farkeman

Exactly! :P Finally someone who understands. I'm not a fan of the scripted destruction either.

MW2 is one of my favorite games to play, CoD4 was one of my favorite games to play, I expect that Black Ops shall be next. I still enjoy MW2 even through the guys running around with marathon and commando, or the ones spamming tubes. The only thing that ruined MW2 was the ability to use hacks so easily (without anyway to be kicked) and the constant people who seem to think they deserve a completely polished game, that they will never put down. There's all these people jumping on the "MW2 is crap" bandwagon, and that is seriously what has ruined the game, just a bunch of posers that listen to all the losers who make machinima videos regardless of how they think the game is crap. Half the people that complain about that game either suck in the first place, or think there vastly superior to everyone, and cant handle getting killed by some noob once in awhile.

I hope this mode allows you to record the chat that goes on during the games, It will be a great way to show how stupid half the community is. Theres always those moments where you wish you had fraps running.

CoD games are well worth the 60$, I have yet to even play the singleplayer of either game and still think ive gotten atleast my moneys worth.

Theatre mode at least in Reach was a good way to wind down after playing for a couple hours, so I welcome it in Blops if only for that main purpose. I'm sure I'll get some fun screenshots as well :)

Except its not just replay. You can view from your own angles, make and edit clips to share with everyone. Big difference, and no one is buying it just because of theater mode. If you like COD its another feature to make it worth your money. Frenzyd109

"View from your own angles" has been in games since the nineties, I know for sure that Starcraft could do it and knowing Blizzard it's an invention that comes from much earlier in the decade.

It's not a great feature, it's a standard feature every game should have.

ITT: pc gamers who think its easy to make their own machinima and claim the availability and ease of capture and editing software. Who cares if it isn't new, adding such a feature is great for its online community when more people are able to access it right out of the box.

Theater mode IS just a replay, I assume with integrated video recording. That's nothing groundbreaking.

I do think before I post, perhaps you should do the same.
