I also put my old video card back but still have a black screen, I heard something about changing something in your BIOS but how can i do that if nothing appears on my monitor.please help me with my problem thank you.

Maybe a stupid question, but have you made sure that all the cables and power cables for your monitors are properly connected? Are the fans on GPU also spinning?

Trying never hurts, it can be a problem with those PCI-e connectors and the GPU could be getting the power from the PCI-e slots. But your GPU is also giving errors on 2 other PC with different parts?

If you can test it on another computer with a PCI-e motherboard I would that, also it could mean the motherboard is blown to hell as well, which I have ran into many times at work and at home. Have you tried resetting the CMOS battery? Also does the computer display POST or is it the instant black screen of doom?

In BIOS, you need to make sure that it is set to boot from the pci-express slot, not onboard. Also, what is your power supply make/model? Also list your wattage and +12v amps. If you are unsure how to check this, take off the side panel and look at the sticker on the side of your power supply. If you can't even get into BIOS, then you might need to reset cmos. Which is real simple, just remove the battery on your motherboard and replace it. This will reset your bios to its original settings. But the most important thing is to post your power supply info.

Make sure your video card is seated in the slot properly, sometimes you have to push down pretty hard until it snaps in firmly.Maybe your power supply has insufficient voltage/amps or is just going bad..

Yeah I made sure the video card fit properly but still nothing. The battery is just new and the video card requires only 450 W minimum. i'll just give it back to BestBuy and buy a new gaming rig instead.

To reset the CMOS battery all you do is pinch the metal clasp to pop the battery out. Look for a watch battery on the motherboard and you should see the clasp next to it. The black screen of doom usually means a few things, bad motherboard, bad processor or corrupter MBR to the point nothing loads and the computer can't post. I've just recently had this on a 4 year old machine and now I have to replace the motherboard.

You broke the CPU socket? How the hell do you do that while changing a video card? Do you mean the long, rectangular PCI slot? Either way, that's the problem. If you broke the PCI slot you might try a different one if your board has one. If not, your board is hosed. If you broke the CPU socket your board is definitely hosed.

I actually had this same problem after putting my old 8800GT in the computer im at currently. Apparently one of the sticks of RAM went bad. Weird cause it worked perfectly before putting the card in. Make sure you didn't knock any other important cables inside off. The motherboard could've also crapped out if resetting the CMOS didn't work. Isn't socket 940 like, really outdated now? Might be the right time for an upgrade to AM2+/AM3 or LGA775/1366. Did you really buy stuff from Best Buy? I remember a 8600GT being just as much as my 8800GT from newegg, quite sad.

I also bought a cooling fan and a power supply, that's how i broke the socket thing. I think my board is no good anymore.
